  1. £1400 vs £500? no competition for me.
  2. Oooooh, that looks nice. Lighter than the AMA.
  3. If you had to buy 4 new climbing saws for guys to do pruning with, what would you choose?
  4. I have plenty of rear handled Husky's. I'm going to get one of those Little AMA's instead of 200T's, for undemanding work. Not for myself, you understand, I would'nt be seen dead with one - but for employees they will be fine
  5. Is it top handled though?
  6. Yes mum
  7. Cant run across a field in stilettos. wold have probably been even more frightening though:ohmy:
  8. Its not cause your hard as nails, its cause your a northener. We're all well 'ard. My father in law was cleaning his side by side upstairs in his bedroom, forgot he had one up the spout, blew the end of the bed off. I once shot a magpie in a hawthorn bush with a mates ancient SbyS, the barrel split and burst just in front of my hand. Could'nt feel a thing in that hand for days. made me wary of old guns too. As for reputation, I've only been broken into once. Chased them accros the field at the back of our farm. Must have looked odd, the guy in only his underpants and chainsaw boots, dogs baying, 5 shot savage auto in hand. Let them have 5 rounds over their heads into the woods. Not been bothered since:001_smile:
  9. Ahh, Italian built.
  10. I'd happily by them for guys doing line clearance work, that sort of thing. I should imagine with a bit of porting work I can improve on the power curve slightly... DOes the weight include bar and chain? Chinese built I assume?
  11. Just tell the customer - 'I'll start cutting and you say 'when''
  12. Would you like some cheese and biscuits to go with that whine?
  13. Hey, I'm not perpetuating Myths. I've worked with some great Female tree workers, particularly in europe- and will put my word on the line by offering the lady a job. But I've also spoken to some female climbers who've had great difficulties. ! female climber I know of, very experienced, all tickets + Tech Cert ARb - and the guys at the company she works for treat her like ****, make her make the tea, wont let her drive the trucks, wont let her climb, give her loads of sexist abuse etc etc. Personally I think she should bring a harrasement lawsuit against them, but she has struggled to get any job in treework...
  14. Nobody steals my wood. My reputation preceedes me:001_smile:
  15. Good look with that. I'm afraid your in for a hard time. This is still a very sexist industry, and very few firms will even consider a lady groundy / dogsbody, nevr mind a female climber. I know of 1 very skilled female climber who wrote to all the firms in Surrey, and never got a reply. If you set up your own business, you could play on your Gender - I think many women would prefer to hire a female tree surgeon. However, you should at least have some sort of arb qualification before starting down that road. Getting your CS certs is the very begining. If your REALLY skilled, you will be a good freelance in about 3 years - but you will only have skill on your side, not experience. How easy did you find doing your NPTC's? if you breezed through it with ease, then you might stand a chance as a climber in the real world. I'm not trying to discourage you, but you need to know what your up against. Its a difficult industry, to many people, not enough jobs, poor pay, that sort of thing. If you were looking to relocate I would give you a job, as I have always had a lot of respect and great experience with ex forces types. They tend to have good self discipline and an excellent work ethic. If you want, I can PM you some contacts.
  16. I used to charge £45 per hour with an 8 wheeler, carry 20 tonne. That was back when diesel was 80p a litre
  17. Ha-ha! wearing stilettos while pricing up?
  18. Yup, porting a saw is a lot of fun. Done most of mine, my 372xp runs like a scalded cat
  19. Wow. You look quite handsome with a shave scott
  20. Pine will soot your chimney no worse than hardwood, provided that it is properly seasoned. It also has a very high calorific value, burning very hot. The only downside is it does'nt produce many coals in the hearth.
  21. ditto!
  22. I have a mate that works for HMRCE. He told me that the 'old guard' at HCE resisted the merger with the Inland revenue tooth and claw. Quite a few high ups had to be pensioned off before the merger went through. They liked the power they held, and were pissed off at the thought of having their wings clipped. I think they are a lot better now, at least you can talk to them, and it takes at least a year of non payment before they will wind up a company.
  23. Ha. Shurley your biased? Although have to say, the Jobeau beats the crap out of most other chippers, even a lot of the 6" roller fed models.
  24. Goodness me John! you look surprisingly efficient for a local authority gang!
  25. you need to get a little bit of guidence from the client regarding what they wish to retain.
