  1. Thanks Iain. The miniskid version is £4500, the excavator one about £4300.

    hook/pole

Get in touch with your local powerline clearing contractors. They will sell (give?) you a set of fibreglass tree rods that are out of date. Very usefull piece of kit.
  3. Bill, that is the latest Kohler 38hp. wicked little powerplant. Matt, it was a brand spanking 802, but the grinder only weighs about 125hgs, so even a 1 tonner will handle it comfortably. I want to try it on a .75 doorway digger next.
  4. My advice for what its worth - Forget the little 13hp grinders, they're rubbish. Buy an Alpine magnum, awsome piece of kit for something so small. you can carry it through houses, work in the tightest of locations, and keep it on the back of a tiny van or car. I have seen guys take out 4ft stumps with the magnum. Global equipment supply have a really good deal on them complete with 99cc solo powerhead. As I build stumpgrinders, I may be biased in the next piece of advice - Consider one of our Hornet pro EX models. The 38 hp grinder is half the price of even the cheapest 25hp machine, and is extremely effective. You get the advantage of owning your own powerfull grinder without the large overhead - just hire in the minidigger as you need it. http://www.arbtalk.co.uk/showthread.php?t=599 http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-5955085311641994062&q=stumpgrinder&total=8&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=1 That way, your not hiring some crappy hire grinder with dull teeth and a saggy engine. Just my humble opinion.

    Dilemna

Pete, It feels great knowing its not just me thats gone through this. Thanks Viv, your also a ****! Andy, trust me, just being a hearing ear will be a lot. Encourage them not to dwell on their woe's, but to get back out there, and concentrate on what really matters.
  6. Cheers Angus, appreciate you making the Vid and taking time to post.
  7. How much do you want to pay for one? I have a good buddy who's a farmi dealer, He'll do you an excellent deal.
  8. A tonne of what? Hieght wise, that must have been pushing 200 foot.
  9. TP and Ducker are essentialy the same machines - At least till TP started build horizontal roller machines. TP are built in Denmark, Ducker were built in Germany. I believe that One used to work for 'tother at one time. I have used them, Wolf Baumflege in Stuttgart had 2, a 760 and 960. The best feature was the single high torque poclain motor driving both feed wheels - impressive crushing ability. As a PTO machine for the back of a mog, I would go with a Farmi - much more modern machine.
  10. Nigel from Fletcher stewarts had a nifty little auto Tacho in his mitsubishi. I'd like to try and get more info on it.
  11. nice. Probably good for fencing aswell. Who's the seller? Prior and Ricketts?
  12. depends on what size dbh. if its big lumps, it'll be £20 tonne minimum - for small dia. thinnings it will be anything up to £35 a tonne. Whereabouts in the country are you?
  13. I'm lucky in that I manage about 40 hectares of woodland for the estate, and have done a good deal of Harvesting in the past. However, we got rid of the mog long ago and went over to HGV's with Tacho's. My trucks have the simple old paper disk jobbie's. Easier than using a logbook.
  14. With the huge popularity of mini excavators in the UK, it seemed right to make our universal grinder fit- Unfortunately, easier said than done. Took a while to get one to work right, but a quick call to New River equipment in the USA put us on the right track with the geometry. Works REALLY nicely on a mini digger...
  15. Fnar. Harumph.
  16. I beleive the problem with Unimogs is that all new mogs since 2003 (I think!) are now registered as HGV from new. occasionally you'll see an older mog like some of the old welsh water registered as HGV.
  17. It must have taken at least 2 days to get all the other lines and straps in place.
  18. Face it Steve, if you had the opportunity, you'd do it. I would relish the opportunity to do it... for an enormous fee:D Awsome video of an extremely dangerous takedown. I loved the Juxtaposition of Beth Orton's fragile voice with the action. I would really like to know the price and timescale on that job. it must have been a full weeks work...
  19. At the rate we consume energy, we will deforest the UK to feed these stations. A lot of the biomass being burnt in the UK is shipped in from around the globe. I'm not against the principle, but we do everything cockeyed in this godamn country. Vast coal burning powerplants want biomass as a 5% feedstock to appear to be green. massive stations are built so stupid ***** can turn on their electric heaters and electric kettles whilst leaving every godsdamn consumer bauble sat on standby consuming yet ever more power. Did you know that 65% of the UK's carbon footprint is produced through DOmestic use? The germans perfected the idea and production of zero energy loss houses in the late 70's. we are only just adopting those standards now, more than 30 ears later! Biomass should be implemented just like our european neighbours do it - small scale local plants that sell the power AND the heat back into the local communities.
  20. Yup. We ship a 110 station wagon out to you
  21. Quote war!
  22. why not just use an f150 4x4? Is there something particular you want to build?
  23. If its a 3.5 tonne 4x4 you want, this was the best landrover that was never built. Damn shame.
  24. No idea. It looks surprisingly similar in dimensions to the 130.
