  1. This is the coolest thing I've seen in a while - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_F9RJSPnf8A
  2. Silly money is when a 20 year old piece of equipment with an old crane commands premium price tags. Matt, I have no doubt a 4x4 or 6x4 truck would handle your track. However, in your situation, why not just invest in a trailer / crane combo for your mog? Personaly, I would go for a good condition ex utilities 4x4 snowplough truck with a decent forestry crane mounted on the back. Hopkinson fairdeals had some immaculate 1317 4x4 mercs in recently for under £10 K The snowplow registration does get round the operators licence bit, but its white diesel and HGV.
  3. You were given the same information numerous times.
  4. So if I understand your opinion correctly - You feel that Greg Good is extorting money from his customers - and that he should listen to you and build his lowering device much cheaper....? and that this would be an improvement?
  5. Telhol, trust me, your chipper has belts. NOBODY builds a direct drive chipper. The flywheel would be highly stressed at 3600rpm...
  6. Ha! I have a lovely unimog crane for you... If your looking at a unimog with a crane attached, dont bother. Way overpriced, and you'll get a clapped out old Hiab, which are only a1 or a2 rated. Timber cranes are b3 rated (refers to the life duty cycles), built with far superior steel, weigh less, lift more, have protected fittings, joystick action.....
  7. Maybe not, but it would make for more exciting races if they did:drunk:
  8. I think your original post came accross a bit strong. To accuse a manufacturer of extortion is a pretty strong accusation. I have had the same said about my stumpgrinders, and it is aggrevating. As for your argument about stihl chainsaws, Stihl manufacture tens of thousands of saws a year. I would be surprised if Greg Good sells a 100 GRCS's in a year... its economy's of scale. I'm sure it would be much cheaper with a chinese winch bollard, but would you want it?
  9. Thats the one Carl. Telhol, the biggest single cost on the GRCS is the Harken marine winch. just google harken winch and see how much they cost...
  10. A lot of people have no need to be stoned at work to have dumb accidents.
  11. Hell yes. that looks cool as F***
  12. Got timberwolfs by any chance?
  13. Correction - CE is not even a legal requirement - it just means that any item bearing it has passed certain regulatory processes. Its not even a dead cert, as loads of really crap chinese equipment (generators and power tools spring to mind) have CE marks that are totally invalid. But how do you sue a chinese company for selling a faulty piece of equipment that you bought from a man in a van or at a market? you cant, so everything from cheap tractors to power drills wears an invalid CE mark.
  14. It also depends on what region your in, as various police officials will be more lenient / clueless. VOSA however are far stricter, and I have been told by a senior VOSA chappie that they will prosicute any unimog / fasttrac they find on red whilst carrying a 'load' of any description - silage, hay, woodchips, anything. He also said that unless you could prove that you had just come direct from a legitimate forestry job (planting, harvesting or extraction), that excuse would'nt wash either, as forestry companies cannot use red to haul their products. I think if your a small operator, you will get away by flying under the radar for a while.
  15. Its the Harken winch that really costs on the GRCS. Thats a neat bit of work there Kim.

    4X4 Tippers

its a shame those 4x4 canter's and Fuso's are'nt sold in the UK.
  17. I remember. company called Ecotrax I think...

    Salmon or Trout?

Its a salmon, Betws is about 25 minutes from me, been to watch the salmon running lots of times.
  19. That engine new is about £2200 from kubota.
  20. Mike, no difference between 1000 and 1200 apart from turbo giving extra power = good. In all honesty, a 100hp mog to turn a chipper is pretty puny. For what a mog will cost, why not buy a decent tractor?
  21. Mike, Have you tried Merex?
  22. How unlike a mog! <sarcastic>
  23. This is the new UK importers details http://www.equipmentsupply.co.uk/contactus.htm

    tree spade

Lee, I have a nice little Metasequoia to move, about 5" dbh and 14 foot high. is an airspade a good way to do it? (I've only ever used excavators and treespades...)

    tree spade

Civic trees, or barchums. Not a cheap service though. It will probably set him back about £1000.
