  1. By "report" I assume you mean to the HSE? They WILL investigate. Are you sure they dont have tickets? Anyhow, on a slightly seperate side to it, I'd say you stand more chance of getting work if you are ticketed, and most of all, your insurance will cover you. Insurance companies nowadays are not interested in covering people on grandfather rights. If the companies taking on such guys as you're talking of, are highly likely to be giving contracts purely on price, and imo, probably not the type I'd like to work for.
  2. Yeh, go for it! I guess what me and GTR were trying to say was(albeit long way round! Lol!), take your calculator with you, it'll be fine if you can figure stuff out anyway:thumbup1:
  3. Yep, fair do. I guess most of my spraying days were boom and agric, so we had a spray sheet to follow and didnt need to look at labels so much. The sheet stated l/Ha for each chemical and that was multiplied by field or tank size, so every chemical was worked out and written down before touching it. Most of my backpack days have been 200ml of glyphosate in a tank, easy peasy! Lol!
  4. Yeh, I get you but in what situation would you be wanting to work out volumes and rates with your gloves on? Surely you would have that all worked out before you started handling the chemical?
  5. It's a lot of years since I did mine, but would they allow a calculator? I'm sure it could be argued that a calculator could be used out in the field in an every day situation, and really once you understand the formulas for correct calculation a ready reckoner would be much more reliable? Edit; GTR beat me to it! If they're allowed it should be easy sailing. ,
  6. I hope this doesn't sound like a derail, instead a useful bit of info to be taken into consideration as per thread title. Hope it's slightly relevant:001_huh: Yep, it sure looks like they have it wrong! That land rover is commercial and will come out at £220 a year. I feel the dealerships may have lost a few sales as a result of this error:sneaky2: I've been on DVLA website and checked the vehicle showing its plate, and hopefully my cut and paste will show details available. All you need to know is reg number and make of vehicle and this is readily availible free; Quote; Services provided by DVLA: Vehicle enquiry The enquiry is complete. The vehicle details for WJ13 OTL are: Date of Liability 01 03 2014 Date of First Registration 26 03 2013 Year of Manufacture 2013 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2198cc CO2 Emissions 266g/Km Fuel Type HEAVY OIL Export Marker N Vehicle Status Licence Not Due Vehicle Colour GREEN Vehicle Type Approval N1 Vehicle Excise Duty rate for vehicle 6 Months Rate £121.00 12 Months Rate £220.00 Please be aware that if the vehicle has recently been relicensed or a SORN declared, these details may not yet be updated on the vehicle record. I'm not sure a direct link will work on the actual vehicle search as it times out, so here's a link for anyone who would like to use the service in the future. It maybe worth bookmarking it as it's sure hard to find in the maze of dvla! Just use the link below then click on "vehicle enquiry" down the left side and follow the instructions. Hope this is of use to some of you; https://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/app/home/intro?skin=directgov
  7. No. The road tax is £220 for all the commercial defenders now. Only way it would be a higher bracket would be if it was a car type, i,e, one with windows in the rear panels. Having said that, I know someone who has just bought a 2008 90 pick up from main dealer and they had it listed as the higher tax bracket. Apparently lots of people had been put off from buying it as a result, but my mate did the vehicle enquiry check on it, found out the dealer had it wrong, so he took it off their hands for a song:001_rolleyes:
  8. I've been running my tipper with 35 front and 45 rear and seems great for all applications. Not sure if it helps though!
  9. Cheers mate, I'll give the portal a look. I was hoping for something that could be read from a few yards away!
  10. Cheers Peter, is there a size limit for a fixed one without planning?
  11. Can anyone point me in the right direction here, as to legalities of advertising on private land? Any info appreciated, stuff such as is planning needed over a certain size, and there's lots of mobile ones around, they exempt?
  12. Needs to be under your direct supervision. You may find it wont be too productive if you play it straight as you should be watching over him more than actually cutting yourself.
  13. Started on the weekend beverages early Ian?
  14. The one we had a trial with would sure give a 200 a run for its money! Time will tell I'm sure, but I feel it will be the best topper available. Time for folk just to realise, the 200 is no more. Time to move on with the green planet brigade, there ain't any carbon spitting muscle saws made any more!
  15. Lets just hope they are as good as the protoypes:thumbup1:
  16. I dare say 9 out of 10 lorry drivers would beg to differ:sneaky2:
  17. Ok, this is very, very interesting. I like the way the truck has worked out, it looks the biz, will go anywhere, tow anything, not bad on fuel, loads of load capability etc, etc. But, dare I ask if it needs an O licence?
  18. Very true, your assumptions are well recieved and I am aware. That stove was placed there as a measure only and since, a smaller one has been fitted. Nice to see folk looking out for others on here though, it is appreciated.
  19. Just keep in mind it's the outer extremities of the hinge that provide the most holding fibres in the direction of the fell. Gutting out a third or even half the hinge in the middle will have little difference in this strength yet reduce the effort needed to bend the hinge by upto half. Very safe procedure IMO. Funnily enough the above applies in a similar way. Although this looks a very dead/rotten stem, the crucial part of the hinge is still in tact(although its very thin!). It truly is amazing how much hold such a small amount of sapwood can give. Good on you for taking it on
  20. It appears your main problem is its a Massey ferguson, they are rubbish. We had one a few years ago and was ultra unreliable and ended up getting a ford. The one we had was not this model but it did have a red bonnet. The old ford we got didn't have any electrics to go wrong, just a starting handle. Much more reliable. Hope you get it sorted soon mate, after all it'll be worth much more as a runner when you come to trade it in.
  21. I'm sure Ben will be along at some point to give his reasons, but it's what I would of done. I gut hinges out very regularly, especially for ease of pulling over. In general, the center of the hinge controls very little or even no sideways strength to the hinge, so gutting it usually looses no control, only resistance on the pull.
  22. This is a weekend to remember if anyone dares to try it! This weekend; Motorcycle Action Group
  23. Given up on single roller chipper issue then and had to trawl through comments from over a week ago to have a dig at me? I have actually noticed a connection between your comments on this thread and the 935 one, you have had no involvement with either machine. Shame you couldn't either open your mind and try something different, or keep you none fact opinions to yourself.
  24. Nah Johny, too expensive. Was from FG Adamson. Really love it, would just like a bit more poke as its way short of my old 192t:blushing:
