    i'm home

Great news Dave, hope its all going the right direction, keep us updated.
  3. Is it right he got a million for turning up?
  4. Yeh Dave, the lad i got the g-wax from said it was the same as grangers. Not sure though:confused1: The pic above shows the boots looking dirty but its actually the surplus wax. Dare say it will soon wear off. Had a funny moment with the lad in the shop though, it said for "smooth" leather on the tin, so i asked for "rough". He said well there isnt any, what is the leather like on your boots? When i said sort of swede, the look on his face was priceless, eventually following up with "but, but you cant put that stuff on swede, it will ruin the finish!" After that he really took some persuading that the boots would soon loose the finish anyway, and he eventually let me have a tin:thumbup:
  5. I suppose we all put pics up on here of allsorts and never really know if they might get copied and used elsewhere, but its a bit much if folk are using work pics to make out they are something they arent. Just curious but was the offender using the copied stuff as part of promoting work Steve, or do you think it was just to look good to mates etc? Doubt there will be much of mine worth copying though anyhow:001_rolleyes:
  6. Oh dear, have i just had the rollocking of all time:blushing: I only put them there to stop Louise falling over them! Dave, cheers for the concern, but the rad is not on. In the end I managed to buy some G Wax, said to be the equivellant to the old Nikwax and got it put on and worked in them yesterday. I also bought some of the nikwax cream, and some chelsea wax. I guess a good dosing from time to time will be the answer. Cheers for the tips, now all i have to do is choose which one to use next time. I do like some of the horsey ideas though.
  7. In a tree if you have the option of more power from the same weight of saw, its a no brainer IMO. As for only being in the US, not so. There are thousands over here and getting more. I have 4 myself, all tree surgery saws.
  8. Ok, I'll stick my neck out and hope you accept some constructive criticizm. Get your groundy to let it run more. Dont get into the habbit of one handed cutting. Try not to cut so close to your strop(especially one handed). Otherwise, nice one for getting it down in that wind.
  9. Happy memories:thumbup: You know who has it now, is it near Harrogate Johnny?
  10. Landy double cab. Unless you're on a tight budget:sneaky2:
  11. Although when learning a guide is a good start, it does not create the best edge. As Dave says, more and more practice will give a sharper chain. I would liken it to a hand built car compered to a robot built, the guide will be fine and serve very well but if you want perfection there is nothing better than a little human touch!
  12. Got around to waterproofing my Tirol Fighters today but it seems the old faithful Nikwax is now no longer available. There is a new cream version and also many other brands of wax. Some water based, some conditioners etc etc. So what do you all think is the best out there now?
  13. Sounds comparable to mine. It was £1700 a year ago y reg with 60k on the clock. Mine pulls a 935i vermeer at just under 2 ton so they will do it. Just not quickly. Basic mechanics mean they are reliable. Not a bad deal IMO, and it will do the job.
  14. Should have called you in Dean. Even with a Kubota, winch and a felling bar it would have been less effort and more professional! It may have only been 8mm long but did i mention it was 20mm wide:lol:
  15. Oh dear, this subject is very fresh with me! I know this will not help you at all but heres my story. Two weeks ago got a spike in my finger and I knew at the time it was deep, too deep to get out with a needle- even with the wife digging around:001_huh: After a week the pain and swelling had got bad enough to call the doc but they sent me to hospital:confused1: After visiting 3 hospitals on day 1, and waiting around for 10 hours, having an ultra sound found a 3-4mm spike was sent to plastic surgery, they told me it couldnt be done that day and to return the next:thumbdown: They were going to have to "operate" as it was near nerves, but i would be at the bottom of the list as it wasnt urgent! On day 2 waited a further several hours I walked out eventually, went home and sharpened my own knife and went for it. I managed to get a 8mm spike out with a little pain but much relief:thumbup: Hope you dont end up with the same performance.
  16. Bet the trailer was more over loaded than the landy:001_huh: Just as another thought for you when buying new, does your manufacturer offer bespoke design if you want it? When i got my Edwards it was a close thing against the Ifor, but I wanted a 6 foot wide bed at 3500kgs gross. Ifor didnt have one off the shelf then and therefore you couldnt get one. Also, i wanted tin high sides for chip, not mesh and Ifor wouldnt do them. Edwards built a 6 foot bed (usually 2700kgs) on a 3500kgs chassis, high sides in tin and total extra was £300+vat. I also ended up with a towball on the back but thats another story:lol: Do Atlas offer anything none standard i wonder?
  17. Now thats abuse Nigel:scared1:
  18. I actually dont want to sound anti Ifor. They are probably the best for carrying weight regularly and will hold value best of all. My dad has a flatbed for taking tractors to rallies so always carrying weight. Its spot on for that. I just dont feel there are many situations generally such a heavyweight trailer is needed in arb.
  19. My comment was about my trailer, its a Graham Edwards:thumbup: Unloaded, Ifors are horrible! They need a nice amount of weight on before they are smooth too! Approx 90% of trailers spend as much time empty being towed as fully loaded, therefore empty ride quality is important too. A trailer that bangs, yucks and rattles is not for me im afraid.
  20. Only just seen this, and I cant actually believe you are moaning about this and the following support given! The seatbelt law is hardly new, and i dare say you passed your driving test after that law had been implimented. As for the runaway cable, you obviously haven't seen a trailer career down a dual carriageway with a digger on the back after it broke loose. I have, and it killed a woman and child in a car because they "forgot" to put the cable on. As Stevie says, man up and take it on the chin. Afterall, you were fined on life saving issues. Hardly minor IMO.
  21. I know the question is about atlas, but there seems to be a direct comparison to ifor. So here's another; Livestock Trailers | Plant Trailer | Tipper Trailers | Flatbed Trailer | General Purpose Trailers I had mine built to my spec, upgraded to 3.5 ton, high sides are tin to stop twigs and chip falling through, spare wheel, tie down points etc, etc, came out £3200+vat. Might be worth looking at if you want anything specific as the others will only supply "off the shelf". Mine tows better than an Ifor too:thumbup:
  22. Fair enough Rob, Ill have a word with the boss and see if i can get a pass anyhow:thumbup:
  23. How long do you expect to stay around Rob, is it likely to be a late do as i may be able to bring night time refreshments and a tent if its a late do:thumbup:
