I have had the pleasure of meeting two of her sons while they visited "The North" and both seemed very happy to be here:001_tt2: I have also had the MISfortune of meeting one of Her ignorant, jumped up, mighter than thou daughters(not naming names though), but thats another story:sneaky2:

Ady, Im just getting a pair of tirols run in at the moment, first time ive had "expensive" boots, and will definately go back to cheaper ones! As for waxing/protecting I do intend to keep them right as its not all about waterproofing them, waxing also "conditions" and "feeds" the leather and therefore should keep it more supple and last longer.
  4. Just seen this if anyone is desperately after one; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Stihl-MS192T-Top-handled-arborist-chainsaw-/300493093702?pt=UK_Home_Garden_GardenPowerTools_CA&hash=item45f6c8bb46
  5. I feel there should be an industry standard that states the term "seasoned" means a guaranteed level of moisture, and that should be 20% or less IMO. Those who say 25% is fine, are kidding themselves as well as their customers, as any of us know there is a big difference in burning, tarring etc. Perhaps the reason is due to time required to season and not what they believe is correct advice. I have some sycamore and ash that was felled and processed at the beginning of September and is already down to 26-28%. It will take probably another 6 to 8 months before its below 20% though, so the ones thinking 25% is fine may sell it this year. I wont, instead it will be my first selling top quality stuff for next winter(2011/2012) and will be around the 16-17% mark.
  6. The two biggest stove installers near us are promoting kiln dried and insist on burning below 15% so i think 25% is way off that. Having said that, they do tend to promote kiln dried and say NO air dried stuff is dry enough. That alone does get my goat a bit as mine is presently 15 or 16%.
  7. If yours is seasoned properly dont worry about it. There's suppliers around here saying 25% is fine but they are not real competition. Customers vote with their feet, once they realise its wet they will come to you for seasoned stuff:thumbup:
  8. I was thinking the same Andrew, afterall it is water based and even says it can be applied to WET leather:001_huh: I still like the old school way myself but guess the new type nikwax may be ok for a quick maintenance coat, rather than an initial full waterproofing.
  9. I went to see the nurse a few months back for blood tests and she basically thought i was a fat git and started preaching to me i cant be exercising enough and insisted i joined a gym. Believe me, if you are already doing a physical job, the only way is to eat less!
  10. Sorry Dave, its a slippery slope from now on:001_rolleyes:
  11. Just hardwood Lee. At the moment they are 16% mc:thumbup1:
  12. I ran a butterfly last and wanted D's further forward so went for the sequoia. Seems fine but wish Id gone for the SRT just to put braces on it to stop it falling off my back when I hang a big saw. Worth trying on:thumbup1:
  13. On £4-50 retail here Lee:thumbup: First year ive done nets, was on £3-50 an open topped bag last year, but was no good carrying on at that so re-packaged and put the price up. Been flying out since:thumbup1:
  14. I think Butch was meaning the leather! I guess its a bit like slow cooking another animal product known as meat. Heat as a tendancy to dry it, and makes it easier to break up!
  15. A true landy owner knows how to cure such minor issues. Just rip the bottom seal off the door. Sorted:thumbup1:
  16. I'm gonna go for a guess, 17:confused1:
  17. Poor old Gillian, in a pit of rats! Think Ill be struggling to hold back the giggles:lol:

Wow! Only away for five minutes and Im being inuended about allsorts:001_huh:
  23. There is no better firewood IMO:thumbup: As far as stacked stuff or laid around on the floor, most of it will just be water if its been felled for two years. I would say if you get it sawn and split now, leave it in an open area where plenty of wind can get through it, and cover it it will be dry enough by xmas. Dont make big piles of split stuff though, the wind will dry small heaps quicker:thumbup:

Not a great fan of any of them as far as singing talent goes, but there are great entertainers. Id love to go and see them in concert. Just imagine what the crowd is predominantly made up of:sneaky2:
