  1. My current ride, miss the Landy but have to travel much further now
  2. A little, My parents lived in Ash Vale near Farnborough and ran the Basingstoke Canal so that corridor i know well. Then while working for SCC i got to know as far out as Reigate and Banstead but not much further. Not a great deal has changed here just busier !
  3. I worked for Surrey County Council on their Countryside Teams for a no. of years and we fenced either side of that track for stock. The ground was so hard it took months. Had to take the Landy up there every day for about 2 1/2 months.
  4. That's right after Ranmore you cross the road go through the woods then down the big chalk hill. I took a 130 up there with an Ifor Williams trailer ! It then goes under the railway arch before hitting the main road in Abinger opposite some fish place. I think you might scratch your truck up a bit if you took it up there lol
  5. They've narrowed them at both end and surfaced sections with road plannings. That big chalk hill is no fun anymore lol
  6. Those lanes are all but tarmaced over now Rob
  7. Sacked it when i looked out the window this am. We had a big leaning oak take down with no access in a muddy bog hole so good call here i think. Dead wooding a wood land tomorrow (don't ask!) so don't care what it's doing tomorrow
  8. Jesus kickback city !! I shudder to think about a thing like that in public hands
  9. Ha ha I like the Dan plan Lee lmao FWIW I agree with Ed the clearing saw will destroy it but if it's tangled it's a sod to swing side to side. I'd see if your tractor has the umpff to push it up and grab it out.

    Ha ha

Legally you don't have to obey temporary traffic signals but if in doing so you endanger anyone or anything else you can be done for dangerous driving. Go figure !

    day rate

I wouldn't bother Lee, I don't know who the Guildford contractor was but i've been operating here for 6 years and any more than 500.00 a day for a two man team is hoping. The usual is 200.00 per man per day. J The Tree who was the contractor nr Guildford Dryad or Advanced ?
  14. If i could find one for s decent price Oliver it's an option.
  15. Mark, welcome, try James C Tonk he's based in Lichfield you should find him on the approved contractors list at http://www.trees.org
  16. Remeber you are only holding half your weight. Try a thicker rope if your struggling. I find my Blaze very tiring with a rope guide when it's wet but in the dry i fly
  17. Ditto we have this happen time after time after time with work for wildlife trusts and parish councils. Don't shoot yourself in the foot the may eventually come around to your way of thinking.
  18. Look at woodlands and forestry land in your area to rent instead. That's what we had the most luck with, we know have access for upto 10acres, I've only cleared 3 though lol !
  19. Robert check http://www.arbjobs.com then cross reference the employeers with the Arb Aproved lists at http://www.trees.org.uk.
  20. Sorry mate lol, equipment and consultancy sales, wood chip, fire wood etc. I have in the past found buying in and re-selling large specimen trees profitable but a very small market.
  21. Again i agree, thoe of us that are responsible make sure our kit is legal and well maintained. It's in our interests as it reduces down time. !
  22. I'd also like to see the whole scheme scraped and an apprentiship system set up. Check the company out and limit them to the no. of apprentices at any one time. Stop flooding the industry with under qualified but 'qualified' employees if that makes sense. I'd much rather put out a job advert for a groundsman, assess their attitude and aptitude and then invest time and money in trainning them in house with block release for college sesions.
  23. What I mean to say is people will happily pay 600.00 for the latest LCD TV but when you give them a price to remove a tree for a similar ammount they are shocked.
