  1. Profit margin in sales 200% profit margins in tree surgery 10-20% ! Most do it because it's a life style and vocation and they couldn't imagine doing anything else.
  2. Ditto, instead of bitching about how each other run our respective business we should all be clubbing together to fight changes that make earning an honest crust even harder. I suspect the fuel advantage with running a Mog is negligable now.
  3. Nexy year should be a good year here, finance deals will be paid off, a major advertising campaign is planned and we have a large contract for a property developer that should come off fingers crossed. The trouble is with this job your selling yourself so unless you diversify big bucks will never be coming our way
  4. Even the TP's jam occasionally between the rollers and the disk. It happens maybe once a month to me and it's usually when I get lapsy daisy and put a short knarly lump in that should have been a log if you know what i mean ! The Farmi's are good chippers but if they won't let you try one out i'd walk away as it doesn't say much for the back up in the future ! My TP has 400 HRS on it now and has had few if any problems.
  5. Congratulations and you won't regret the TP Mike they are good chippers best of luck
  6. Yep sellotaped to a flash bang
  7. I often find the consumer thinks we all hate tree and love cutting them down. I had a customer the other week who couldn't believe the nasty tree officer wouldn't let them take down a beautifull healthy oak 40' from there house that was perfectly healthy because it dropped leaves in their garden ! She spoke to us as if we'd love to take it down !
  8. The bare faced lying bitch just pisses me right off. As if we don't work hard enough to earn a bloody crust. Soon as Annie gets back from the horses i'm off round there
  9. Dear god mate people would take you more seriously if you stopped contradicting yourself and took a little time to read through the posts properly and look at the pictures ! The willow has been pollarded before what other choice is there other than to re-pollard ?
  10. Chq has bounced I'm fing fuming :cussing:
  11. I would say 1/3 is nearly allways posible if your prepared to make the effort. The reason that doesn't happen for most is due to consumer wishes. We can only try our best to educate.
  12. Where are you located as mine allways requires the services of a good mechanic !
  13. Doesn't it piss you off that you have to go to such lengths ? I hate the getting kit out and putting kit away part of the job because we have to be so vigilant.

    Help

Sorry to hear of your lost kit it's all so common these days. As others have said be carefull once you replace your gear as they nearly allways come back once you've been hit once.
  15. Interesting to hear of someone that know the definitive answers. Do you work in that industry ?
  16. That's what I do Andy but many don't, i have a removable setup on the chipper trailer pin.
  17. If it's taxed as an ag vehicle then yes Marc. I have no HGV licence but i'd like one. ! Skyhuck I really like your setup, how is the crane on the trailer powered with it's on PTO pump i take it ?
  18. Pete I have a Mog allready and as i've posted in other threads our yard is only accessable by 4x4, the roadway is at least 1/2 mile long so stone is out of the question. A Unimog with a decent crane is between 23 and 30k + VAT a forestry tractor in good nick with a roof mounted crane can be had for 17-20k and is more versatile i just wanted more speed than that. Might look as fastracs with a timber crane. Ed you've still got the Loglift then ?
  19. What the branches that you have allready cut off Didn't think you liked overpriced rigging devices my method is definatly the cheapest.
  20. Oh and yes Mogs with cranes on are silly money !
  21. Jees how much will that cost ! Ed what in you opinion is the best way of removing large arb waste from jobs to an off road tip ? I'm not against wagons if they can get in the yard.
  22. Make it out of plastic and ally that would make it nice and cheap to build i reckon. Maybe get Greg to ship the plans out to China Frans
  23. To much shite to get in the way Marc, it's not like you have a big saw on you for long. If i need a break i'll clip it to a sling cinched round the stem.
