  1. Adam lots of guys in the early days learnt the job hands on at work, then companies put them through their tickets as and when required. When i started out in the countryside industry i was driving excavators years before the tickets came in. When they did i got grandfathers rights at 18 and was signed off with 1 hr of instruction.
  2. Ed did your son load the forwarder in those last shots LOL
  3. I'm not allways right Andy but I'm never wrong lol I've tried selling firewood down here for about 4 years now. I have reguarly clients but not a bloody lot !

Good work Skyhuck, i like your winch. Must get a decent one myself at some point !
  5. How did you find those tyres on that steep drop off ? I find ours are hopeless in mud even with diffs locked you just can't climb out of the ruts.
  6. Trouble is Andy there isn't that much of a market for it down here. The only people that want logs are the well of who light the fire 5 times a year etc. They only want one load a year if that.
  7. For not alot of money i bet ! Gareth had his own guy for felling big trees when we worked with them.
  8. I know what you mean Andy, I've done hand fell scrub clearance next to PB's chipper very depresing
  9. Well i'm sorry mate, but one week you love them and would like one the next week you hate them ! Each to there own. If you have peronal experience of Simon and Frank then great post away but if you haven't i think it's out of order to slag them off.
  10. I've had to from him and they've all ben fine, the secret is to get somone in the know to look them over first and get Vos to rectify any faults before delivery. Years ago they were awfull but i really do think they have improved now. I had one of those roof boxes on my 1st U1000, as Marc said great for kit that isn't used reguarly. The problem is with them you need to climb onto the roof and hold one side down with your foot to close it properly. Lee you jump on Mogs all the time but have no experience of running or owning one, gets on my t***s from time to time
  11. Ditto here, Alastairs new chipper is a little better though.
  12. Not that impressive Butch, I bet the one on that one are shagged though looking at the state of it !
  13. Not sure if i still have it i'll have a look on the office pc some time

    Platform Job.

Yeah 15m I think, height was about right, i did the whole crown in hand held pieces as it was so dead at the tips. This was one of the more responsive and non-jerky machines I have used. It would have been faster than rigging and lowering yes, I choose a platform because of the road, dead wood would have dropped everywhere otherwise.
  17. Here's a large dead oak that Anna and I did recently. I hate platform but quite enjoyed this job Shame the butt was full of metal and took 2 days to cut up...we miss our crane
  18. Oh really ! To be fair it was the wind rather than you that did that
