  1. I've run alot of land rovers the last was a TD5110, the TD5 is an excellent engine yes it has electronics but mine were allways reliable never broke down ( yes i mean it !) I'd love another one but without the forestry work i used to do i can't justify the expense. Nothing on the 4x4 market performs like a landy off road and especially towing. I'd love to try the new 6 speed one
  2. I looked into this two years ago and for what the licence costs you might as well have it !
  3. Here's the willow, the silver birch above was a dismantle.
  4. Here's a few pics of Anna at work The willow is a before and after dead wooded and thinned.
  5. To much sitting in the office Ed
  6. Anna likes hers now Ed but finds the leg loop can pinch her. Give her a bell (txt me for no.) if you want any more info
  7. I use SAGE and I hate it with a passion so might try quick books:)
  8. I can show all of you a young lady that would work rings around most of us. Big saws in the air will allways be an issue but as others have said it's about technique and using the right tools for the job. Let the lady strip the tree to a pole then he-man can block it down etc. It's not rocket science is it ! and as for toilet breaks at work that is a pathetic issue all it takes is some planning and thought. I've seen Anna fell the top out of a Beech with a 372 and yes she sruggled but she did it. Bugger me if I didn't struggle when i started as well. We have had one diabolical ill motivated girl but that's because of her character rather than her gender.
  9. I should also point out that nothing else short of a tractor can get in our yard after rain lol !
  10. I love it when you and I get on the subject of Mogs lol. Mine does 45mph when towing a 10t grain trailer full ish of logs and does 58 on dual carriageways empty. Because of the bouncing 40-45 on A roads is about all you'd want to do.
  11. Ha ha, Pro in my opinion, Ag registered, goes places trucks don't but not as good off road as you might think due to top heavyness. Carry more than a 3.5t and cheaper to run. I've run two and never (touch wood) had major problems. One was a U1000 which was good but ran out of puff now we have a U1200 which has a turbo and more umpff. It's used every day and will fit anywhere a transit will. We have a TP230 side feed 9" chipper (not from atkinsons) which means road side work is great. The major down side of mogs is loading logs but i can live with that. If you want any more infor e-mail me through my website or give me a call. http://www.authenticarboriculture.co.uk They are also a great talking point and advertisment for your business. We are constantly being told that it makes us look professional and get lots of calls through being seen out and about and on jobs. Everything in this industry is a compromise, i've run vans, little (gay ) chippers and tractors. Unimogs are the best for domestic work. Not sure how it would work in a company where various staff drive the machine. Their are only two or three of us and I allways drive the mog. One driver means less wear and tear and you know when something sounds amiss.
  12. Gotta love the landies ! I've had far to many and now have a honda civic the new shape and a Unimog lol
  13. Seriously though it's a balancing act between staying busy and earning decent money. I'd rather be slightly cheaper than our competitors and having 6 weeks work in front but that's just me
  14. Yep and what are you doing now Nick lol
  15. I've got a 357XP brilliant saw had lots of them. Latest one is a year old and going strong up trees and on the ground.
  16. Personally I'm quite suprised you've gone for e-bay to market your new chippers Ed
  17. Rotten red oak stump cut. This was a biggie !
  18. Pisses you off doesn't it because if that was someones shed, wall etc they'd soon have to stump up some wedge

  20. Matty I have a 395 and I love it
  21. Yep doing the work is DEFINATLY the easy bit everything else is a PITA. Just trying to find the time to return calls and do routine things when you work in the business is hassle beyond belief sometimes. We are at 150-200 per man per day.
