  1. Having just invested in a crane truck, I am interested to know what the rest of you do with your timber. Do you ring it all up and load it by hand, do you have your own truck or timber trailer, or do you use a subcontractor to shift it for you? Personally, I have ringed up and hand loaded enough trees to last me a lifetime!

    Truck's great, best bit of kit I have ever bought. Just got the interim O licence, so fingers crossed i'll get the full one in due course. Lot of legwork involved in getting it though! You run a timber trailer?

  3. The fixed attachment point is a great place to attach a footlock strop. The lower the croll is, the more freedom of movement you have, and the easier it is to operate the handled ascender. There physically isnt enough room on the waistbelt for a buckle and the front attachment and the adjusters too.
  4. Keep the SRT for sure, the only annoying thing about it it the lack of quick release buckles, but I find the regular version's buckle at the front chafes somewhat. Also the srt attachment is great for footlocking! Definately try the croll with the sequioa, the croll should be as low as possible to the harness. The reason no-one can remember srt rescue set-ups is that they are so devilishly complicated. Think about what you need to do and break it down into steps. 1 ascend the casualties line 2 setup descent system above casualty, transfer yourself to new system 3 setup mechanical advantage system to lift casualty off their system 4 attach casualty to your harness, release their system and descend. There may be a few finer points omitted there, but you get the general idea

  6. Its probably a sport. Some species are prone to genetic mutations, which is where cultivars that are variegated or have an unusual habit of growth come from. A pure white variation would not be viable however as it has no chlorophyll and therefore cannot photosynthesise.
  7. Zing it 1.75 mm, 10 or 12 oz bag, preferably one of each. Buy a throwline cube to keep it in too, and never ever try to coil it up!

  10. I love my 441, low vibes, very frugal on fuel, but I wouldnt run it with more than a 25" bar. I find its happiest with 20", but will run 25 when required. I think you will find the 460 more suited to your needs. What bar did you run on the 440?

  13. Sounds nasty, hope you are back on your feet soon. I think its good that they have operated straight away, should get things healing up as soon as possible.

  17. Old rope is a nightmare to splice, do yourself a favour and buy a few metres of NE Hi-Vee to learn on.

  19. Dont forget to locktite your shackles afterwards.
  20. Bit bulky though.
  21. Undo the shackles holding the leg loops on, remove the loops altogether, then put the seat in in its place. The finished result is identical to the dragonfly.
  22. If you want to keep your local dealer sweet then I'd go for it, otherwise you may save a few quid getting it send up from George Carr or Jonesie, provided you can persuade them to send one out that is!

  25. Its also not rated for use in a single line application, whereas the cinch is.
