  1. Yes, unless its ag registered. The real question is, which is easier, raising the money to buy a good mog, or getting an o licence?
  2. Or you could buy an 18 tonne truck, which carries 10 tonnes on its own, hardly ever goes wrong, and costs much much less than a mog!
  3. I believe the Ford Ranger can take a digi tacho too.
  4. Yes, unless you are claiming an exemption. For a list of exemptions download drivers hours regs pdf from the vosa website.
  5. Thats odd, as when the tracks are out the rams are extended, I would have thought you should fill the tank with all the rams retracted?
  6. She did say young and fit steve, i dont think she meant you.
  7. Why would women pose a threat? Does he think they are going to take over the industry and sack all the men?
  8. Tacho. Any combination with a maximum permissable weight of over 3.5 tonnes requires the use of a tachograph under EU rules, unless you are claiming an exemption.
  9. Matt, I understand your frustration, but the fact of the matter is that much like the changes to driving licence categories in 1997, none of this stuff has been advertised by the responsible authorities. VOSA know full well that the majority of drivers and companies are in the dark, which is why so many people get let off a first offence. However, rather than waiting for people to get caught, if they really wanted widespread compliance, surely it would make sense to educate by advertising in trade press, national press, or by encouraging tacho fitting firms to advertise their services by informing companies of their responsibilites. As it is, VOSA seem happy to keep stopping and prosecuting a few, while the majority remain blissfully ignorant.
  10. No tacho needed then.
  11. How far are you going, and are the blocks for your own use?
  12. Are you sign written for forestry or just arb? The forestry, agriculture, horticulture exemption is 100 km from base...... Of course you are not covered for delivering firewood under any of these exemptions. I hope you dont want to deliver firewood every Saturday either.
  13. An understanding of how to get an 020 really sharp, and the ability to flop a big top into a small garden without damaging the fence has been more useful to me in my tree career thus far............
  14. I have a quantity of poplar available next week in north cambs wisbech area if anyone is interested. Straight lengths, diameter from 24" down to about 12". Delivered to local area in 10 tonne loads, pm or phone me for prices depending on distance.
  15. I think you should go with the cabstar and have an all nissan fleet!
  16. Blimey, thats brave! (the cathedral bit that is!)

Me and the missus have just bought a house halfway between Stretham and Wilburton, she works at Addenbrookes. If you ever up this way stop in for a cup of tea or something.

I should be competing at guildford, see you at the work climb?

  17. So buy an auto and become a 'deviate from the expected or normal' , the recipe for a stress free life? .
  18. No, I'm in Ely, Cambs. Didnt make it to the uki this year, but I'll be going to the english at Guildford.

Good luck with the job hunt btw

  19. I think we did, I had a black lab who hung around the bbq all day. Is your girlfriend a doctor?

  20. Every hollow tree is different. Dont remove buttresses. Pick the direction of fell to make best advantage of the remaining sound wood, ie place the hinge in the area with most sound wood. Use a very shallow sink.
  21. Are you buying new or secondhand? Secondhand, I would look for a cabstar with the 3 litre turbo engine, lightweight and pulls like a train, only major downside is the tiny cab. I think they made them around 2004-2005. Canters are nice trucks, but heavy and thirsty, as they are really 7.5 tonners in 3.5 tonne disguise.
  22. Hi Will, were you at the english comp last year at sparsholt?

  23. Heres mine, Badger Golden Glory. Delicious!
  24. No, I soaked it up with a obscene amount of chinese food, and then had an early night!
  25. Your not planning to have a full 3 pints again Josh?!
