  1. I really like Dorchester, some lovely trees there, little far for me but hmmm, maybe.
  2. Little job from last week, Thursday, blowing hard and raining on this Big Maple, one side dead, massive cavity, fungal brackets, Friday fine and dry to finish the tree off. Pictures by Tom, help by Tom, Ben90 and Hugh. Mercenary climbing work carried out, PM me if interested.
  3. I have snapped a wire fid in old rope, the trouble with old 16 strand is it tends to twist, as you push the fid through it can follow the twists even though it feels like it's going through easy, I can't remember the gauge of my fids but you have to be careful that the bend is not too acute as it can cause fatigue in the metal, also when you perform the bend with pliers make sure you cover the pliers with tape so you don't scratch the fid as I have found any tiny scratch can snag inside the rope. I just finished putting an eye on my old, wet, smelly Tachyon line, it was tough but I did it, it looks mint.

    Cod 6

Bah! I can't play online games anymore, not after playing Quake 111 arena for around five years, so addictive it nearly cost me my relationship.
  5. Nice pictures!! Where is that?
  6. Matador? Chris has a County with a ten ton winch.
  7. I used to work for a big firm that would buy work just to keep the money rolling. What fun.
  8. Phenom, buy a piano wire fid from Nod or make your own from piano wire, you can get from good craft/model shops but Nods fids that he has made are much nicer. You will find new rope a whole lot easier to splice.
  9. Agreed, although I do derive a sick kind of pleasure splicing 16 strand.
  10. I can't believe it either Bob, the perils of having children that fall ill at the worse possible time. Still, life goes on, Saturday the 19th is my new date.
  11. Yes, less friction, try it out, I won't attempt to do it in one go anymore. Nod has been in touch, there are courses coming up, I still intend to attend one.
  12. Nice work, it's amazing how easy it is once you get your head around it, do you do the bury in one go or do you, like me, do it in four? Shame I had to miss the course after waiting all this time.
  13. Wind woke me this morning, heading south for a Maple kill!
  14. Picked up my exhaust for my 361 last week, pulled out the baffles but in doing so left small holes in the front, had it brazed and then I forgot all about it, I'll put it on today and give it a spin.
  15. Nice one Nick, I entered got every thing right but was convinced the tree on the front of the catalog was an Elm, had to change my choice, doh!
  16. Then maybe you could sweet jobs like this.
  17. Costs a fair bit, I hear around 3k to get to level three?
  18. Phew! You were right, freaked me right out.
  19. Maybe, it's fine in IE.
  20. No. What have I done?
