  1. Hmm, I was looking at these.3cam - Action Sports Helmet Motorsports Digital Video Cameras ATC3K ATC5K
  2. How much is the camera?
  3. I have worked on many mature Cedars, when they lose a branch they normally lose more over the following years, I think just making good the damage is all that can really be done. I did a climbing inspection last year on a truly massive Cedar of Lebanon for a consultant who has condemned it due to, in his opinion, root heave, if it does fall over it will take the front off the Georgian mansion it's adjacent to, the owners however have not carried out his recommendations as yet.
  4. Okay, so now some old school jungle techno, one of my favorites, Bay B Kane. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNmBZtoPx2s]YouTube - Bay B Kane-Quater To Doom 1992[/ame]
  5. Same here, tried the short gaffs, lasted till dinner break then the long ones went back on.
  6. A heavy overall reduction would have ruined the tree.
  7. I have been toying with the idea of an eye bolt somewhere in the house, I have one outside but it's far too cold, just have to persuade the Mrs that it's vitally important.
  8. I have never had it from being in a tree but have had it after traveling on a two day train journey.
  9. I recognize that rope! Very nice, that Marlow splices nicely, the Tachyon, not so nicely.
  10. So very true, it is only the rich who can afford to live and promote the organic and green life style, they are the trust fund lobbyist elite, only wealth can create this way of thinking, poverty provides no time for this train of thought, poverty only provides misery.
  11. Horrible way to go.
  12. Good luck with the CE approval.
  13. Ah! The old "fit for purpose" rears it's ugly head again. So you would pass a ten year old karabiner for ppe rather that go out and buy a brand new one for ten quid or so? Do you think that maybe that particular karabiner had an ambiguous use in your LOLER course? ie, it could be used to both pass candidates but also fail them? If you are then passed as a competent person then you could quite rightly go back and argue that in fact the course provider is talking out of his backside providing you have an valid opposing argument?
  14. You will never be up to his standard Pete, he is, after all, EDUCATED.
  15. Like I said, " I am with you on this one" Textiles must deteriorate after manufacture so a climbing harness, kept in a box, must deteriorate to some extent but not to such an extent that it's unsafe to use even if it's spent a couple of years in a box?
  16. Hmm, I am with you on this one, yes textiles must deteriorate but surely not to a point that they are dangerous to use?
  17. Are we talking about date of manufacture or date of first use? I would think, though I'm no expert, that date of items manufacture is very important as any defect (industrial) could be then traced right back to source.
  18. I don't know, some people will not accept any reasoning no matter how well furnished you are with knowledge, you say a big cut is not always a hack cut but these fundamentalists believe that any size cut, if it's for a crown reduction or indeed a pollard is a hack cut, you could be a contract climber working to a specification produced on paper by somebody such as the consultant that you mentioned but to them you would still be a hacker and will be openly attacked for your troubles. Anyway, interesting thread.
  19. Or crown reduction but be prepared to be called a hacker like I was.
  20. Good point, maybe because they are not put through the same kind of abuse as PPE for tree work is?
  21. I'm not mocking, I thought that knowing the date of a product going into use as PPE or rigging equipment would be pretty much a no brainer as LOLER is really about keeping records of said equipment more that anything else.
  22. Jeez I didn't realize the movie was that long.
  23. Nice work.
  24. Ive been thinking about the whipping being close to the eye and was interested to see the whipping in this Treeimagineers PDF Titled Braided safety blue and Tachyon. http://www.treemagineers.com/downloads/hitch_climbers_guide.pdf
