  1. I was thinking of adding my Wichard Large Bail Snap Shackle to the mix, not sure if I could be bothered with splicing a 6mm cord Craig!
  2. I just got a DMM thimble to add to my wrench, I will be putting a longer tether on to replace the one that Luke at Treestuff sent me as it's got a little Silky knick and it's also a little short for me,(I keep getting the tips of my gloves caught) I'm climbing everyday now with the Wrench and have been for a while, both pruning and removals, it really has been a good learning curve and I have found that I am far less fatigued at the end of the day.
  3. It's stuff like that that makes me want to pack this game in.
  4. That last bit sounds a little wrong Cary
  5. That pin looks much nicer and safer than the push button version.
  6. How confusing:)
  7. I've not set up a pulley advantage system to return from a branch walk, I just pull myself in pulling in the slack as I go though that's how I do it using double rope anyway. I gotta try setting a pulley for a long limb walk.
  8. Big old Beech Stevie!
  9. Have you tried the threatning to change provider trick? Unlike other providers BT has plenty of expert engineers so they should be able to help you.
  10. Agreed and also Beeline works well.
  11. Hey Andy you must be feeling better a lot of truth in what you have typed.
  12. Good stuff me babber!
  13. Well it looks very well made from here, interesting stuff!
  14. Looks familiar.
  15. I have seen this technique used on heavily leaning willows and it worked really well.
  16. Yes second one as you have mentioned that putting a face cut is not possible, you cut in from both sides leaving a strip of holding wood then you cut from the back of the tree the remaining strip of holding wood, you need to cut fast and you will need to be careful, it's also a good cut to use on very heavy lateral branches but again great care must be taken.
  17. I just got some from Nod £11.50 the other straps are £85 each!
  18. I cut out the purple core, I spliced two old Tachyon ropes last week and found it OK, mind you, I always put gloves on for old rope.
  19. Oh dear. Stop American Censorship — a campaign from Fight for the Future
  20. I love splicing NEW 16 strand.
  21. Yes but apparently it did fail as a PPE attachment but was passed as a tool attachment, it would be nice to know why it failed as a PPE attachment, it's pretty confusing, if the product was faulty in some way then it should have failed altogether and been taken out of service, if however it had failed for some other reason then it would be good to know that other reason.
  22. Guilty was maybe the wrong word to use, I don't know the LOLER inspector who failed the product or even if the product was even inspected in the first place, only the poster who mentioned that it had failed the inspection knows who may or may not have failed it, if it had failed due to a fault then fair enough, it would be useful to all of us to know what the fault was, if there was another reason for the product to fail the inspection then that information would also be pretty useful for all of us to share.
  23. A kangaroo court is exactly what we should like to try and avoid.
  24. A PM naming the guilty inspector would be the preferred option I should imagine?
