  1. I took mine off.

  6. I use a Petzl webbing sling that has been shrink wrapped, works very well and costs little.

  8. Thanks.
  9. That Spiderman carving is brilliant who is the artist?
  10. Cool Tim, what year?
  11. The cover included in the final bury? Instructions just say to cut it off short, I had to bury the core in groups of three to get them in, I also used a wire fid for that part.
  12. Not even Nick Araya made the Fly look pretty, onelab, I cut the first attempt off and restarted afresh, that made it easier, try it and I will try and help.
  13. I think new rope would be pretty easy John, this Fly though is well used, keeping the core neat was a real problem and that i think is the trick with Fly, I'm going to re-whip it when I get some more twine. NE instructions are not that clear either.
  14. My first NE Fly splice attempt, used rope so I found it quite difficult, a few tricks were needed to finish it. So ugly though, got another used Fly to splice as well.
  15. Reid and Co! That's a blast from the past:)
  16. Nice Reg, I have few pics from those days mores the pity.
  17. I've only ever tried the Spider Jack and yes I agree rope/cord is best.
  18. I read that the Petzl device operates like the smoothest functioning VT ALL of the time, but I also agree with your point SP, although different stokes for different folks.
  19. So Gordon sent me some new sheaves, (Thanks) and Mike T tried out the device today, climbing on Tachyon which was giving some friction problems with the larger sized sheaves, Mike has been climbing SRT with the ZK1 for a long time now so was a good test pilot for the DB. Normally Mike climbs with a shorter tether than the one I use but he had no problems with the device at all reporting that it was smooth to use with a comfortable amount of friction, it's a neat tidy and clever design as you can see in the picture. Mike was my guinea pig, he survived the day so I had to pay him. I will give it a spin the next time I have something reasonable to climb.

    Chortle, nice one Craig!
  21. Funny you should say that Rich.
  22. I knew about it but I was busy sunning myself on my luxury yacht in the Med, I only flew back this morning to get my hair cut, I'll be back to the yacht tonight as Tamara and Mercedes have organised a party.
  23. Do you still have to own and use your own saws for Bartletts?
  24. Nice Pete, I'm looking forward to your review as I have one on order, you must have the first one in the UK and Europe? Great design work and no need for a pesky tether.
  25. So, you want to know the best way of removing the inner core from a double braid rope?
