  1. Ultimately it's not the cyclists fault even if he got hit, it is the contractors responsibility to stop him even if he's being a numpty and not concentrating. Bottom line, it's the contractor who will be in the wrong.
  2. Mick is a keen cyclist Adam.
  3. I agree with Paul and Rupe.
  4. Haha, very true Stuart.
  5. I've done exactly that kind of pruning in London and it was a nightmare.
  6. Er, foundry gloves.
  7. Sheesh! The guy was hand milling in the bush mate!
  8. With massive youth unemployment in Spain it's amazing that you have found work.
  9. So what. You cant comfortably swing an axe or use a cross cut saw low down on the stump also the lower stump would be a lot harder to cut due to the grain.
  10. Great stuff, simple life long gone unfortunately.
  11. Lovely work John.
  12. It's possible that the fid has pushed through a strand of the core this will cause the cover to stick, if you can pull it back out and re- insert the cover it should make things easier, I slightly bend the very tip of the fid so then you can feel the tip run against the inside of the cover, also, have you tried pulling the core at the same time as pulling the cover/fid through? This will greatly help get things moving.
  13. I think I've met the guys you are working for, they were taking down a Pine near a harbour, no PPE,no harness, no rope but they did have a rigging rope, I climbed up from the harbour/marina to say hello and take some pictures.
  14. I've done it already Stu!
  15. Ah, never mind, lucky working there, I would love it.
  16. Is the guy in Mallorca called Paul?
  17. Finally got around to splicing this today.
  18. It's possible to make the kernmantle splice nice and neat, I have seen Drews kernmantle splicing and it's very tidy. I did two old fly splices, pictures, and used it SRT for a while, I didn't find it all that bouncy.
  19. Hmm, taking it apart would kind of defeat the object of the exercise but as I just spliced it I know that the 'wobble' is where the core is wrapped in tape inside the cover, on a new rope it would be smoother as it wouldn't bunch up like it has on the old rope pictured.
  20. Good stuff, love the ACDC not sure bout the Mad Stuntman;)
  21. So I was given a Safety Technology rope to splice yesterday, do they make it or do Marlow? Anyway I followed the Marlow Braid instructions but as it was a pretty worn rope I had to taper the cover a little more than usual and it was still pretty tough, i think a new one of these ropes would be very easy. Another type under the belt.
  22. I wonder if he's Chas accredited?
  23. Great picture!
  24. I'm on my third pair of Stretch airs and have never had a problem with the zips, stitching? Yes, but in the past but I feel my latest pair, Gladiators, are very well made. I feel strange saying that and I'm not sponsored by Pfanner. That said, it seems to be a design fault really. Andy Collins tip about all ways doing the zips up when you wash them seems to help.
