  1. nope, not worth the stress at all
  2. im assuming the climber had to feather his line out whilst the crane moved into a position where it could lower the branch?
  3. yep i can see it didnt look too great thats for sure!!!
  4. nice pics Iain. i may be being thick here though....but i dont see how the climber can be anchored to the crane and the crane still able to maneouvre the rigged pieces????
  5. the figure was ultimately irrelevant. the bbc were paying so they would have paid whatever the guy asked just to get some good tv. had it been real, its unlikely the customer would have accepted.. perhaps they should have got the customer to turn down the price to see if they had resorted to buly tactics?
  6. thats a contentious issue that one. i rig the same for small to medium sized lumps. its not text book, but IMO most of the loading is in the half hitch......the speed and ease to tie, and for the groundies to untie makes it acceptable for me personally
  7. not me. i have on the other hand oasked customers if theres any little extras they want doing as we've got done particularly early. thats rare though and depends entirely on how well the customer has treated me during my time there
  8. so how much is a half decent lathe going to cost me then?
  9. ANYTHINGS worth spliting for logs this year
  10. yep cant grumble mate. worked quietened down for a couple weeks back there but now its gone haywire...can never seem to find that happy medium!!
  11. haha havent read you for a while glen! things ok?
  12. public liability is what you'd need which would cover you for other works aswell
  13. im with a company simply called tree surgery insurance....but i had a couple of quotes, arbinsure offered this aswell...i can only assume the others will too
  14. slightly off topic, as most of you know im a freelance climber, but do on occassion make use of a groundsman. i paid for my employers liability last year grudgingly knowing that id only actually be employing people for a few days of the year. didnt find out till this renewal, that you can actually cover yourself for a period of 50 days per year for employers liability. saved me a fortune on my premiums this year.
  15. currant was my first thought
  16. i once saw one of those stihl toy saws that cost £15 for for £50!
  17. does the iphone have push email?
