  1. In the market for a cover for my new truck. I've had a roll top cover now for 7 years. Looking at either the same again or maybe one of the mountain top covers on struts. I think the mountain top might be too restricting as I won't be able to load stuff in the back beyond the height of the sides on the rare occasion I need to. Strapping stuff on the top of the mountain top would be an option of course. Thoughts and experiences please, particularly with the latter.
  2. Nope I laddered the hell out of it.
  3. Bit of a funny one this afternoon. Turned up to a decent sized apple tree that was leaning on a roof. It wasn't immediately obvious where the most tension was...on the roof, or the bow resting on the floor, or if the whole thing was being supported by the biggest Rose stem ever. Whittled away at it anyway, and when I finally got to the position where the top was off and I could removed the limb on the floor the trunk didn't move an inch so i'm still non the wiser. All in all a bloody horrible job though on account of all the rose.
  4. I had a very similar scenario myself today Joe. In fact i'd go as far as to say that I don't think this tree would have even been possible with Ddrt. I think i'm converted.
  5. Nothing at all wrong with the reliability of the 201 in my experience, far better than the 200 was in that respect
  6. Most of mine are Oregon I believe, had vallorbe before. I seem to recall being told that vallorbe make oregons files for them?
  7. If you can make it fire, then i'll be impressed Ian
  8. I still like to cut them off. Maybe in a woodland setting I would leave them.
  9. I have similar to those at the moment, they aren't really up to the job
  10. you might not need an ID, but i'd like to know what it is?
  11. I would expect it to get through it somehow. My old processor had a 6.9t splitter and it would split everything. Not necessarily straight through the middle though, I would often have to whittle away at it.
  12. I used one today, made me think its time to replace my 5 year old 460
  13. Cheers for the link Bob. Few options out there i see
  14. I don't know why I bother posting on Arbtalk, I could just pm you and get the best answer straight away without having to wade through pages of replies
  15. Thats done really well Matty. Feel sorry for the unsuspecting tree surgeon who finds that rod in a few years time
  16. Price looks good, but only splash proof i'm guessing from the description Circular rubber packing avoids invasion of splash water and dust as well
  17. Yes it could be bolted, and maybe braced further up, then pruned a little to reduce some weight, and then subsequently pruned again every few years. Money after money basically for what doesn't appear to be a particularly special specimen, nor will ever grow to be one. Felling and replacing would be the most sensible option.
  18. Well done Stefan, heres to many more years!
  19. Yep I had one of those too, was a lovely harness. I forget what it was about the new sequoia that made me opt for a treemotion.
  20. Join the queue. The new climber at work is hoping to get it all on the cheap when I give up in a couple weeks
