  1. I use google maps on iphone. Its good, but if i'm stuck in a bad area it doesn't work which sucks. Its ok once its set up from a decent location though and it won't just fail as you enter a bad area.
  2. If I could predict that i'd be a millionaire!! In reality it could stand like that for years to come
  3. Yes but at a different point, which has been considerably strengthened
  4. I'm sure they have already done so, and would have issued a full recall if there was any risk of failure.
  5. The positioner is awesome, twice the price of a standard grab though obviously.
  6. Lots of cool stuff on that site. Hows this for a different rope colour? TreeStuff - New England Saluting Branches 11.5mm Rope
  7. Funnily enough I had a message from them earlier, the courier couldnt find your address. I am just waiting for them to confirm what address I gave them before. Will be in touch if theres an issue. The other winner of the bandit merchandise received his a couple days ago.
  8. I was just browsing treestuff and came across this TreeStuff - ABR Triple Threat Anyone know anything about it?
  9. Its a pretty standard design thats been around for years now. I used to use a very similar one. Are you using it on steel core lanyard or rope? I've never tried one on a rope but at a guess I would say there are better options. On a wirecore it does what its supposed to, can get a bit tough if it gets sapped up though. Its a dependable device.
  10. I think I need to change your username to bob_z_l, I'll do that later
  11. haha, thanks for the compliment. I know my limits however. The ideas are mine and I do as much of it as I can myself, but I do sub out the more technical elements to people who are more cut out for the job than me. In answer to the OP though, get a copy of wordpress and take a bit of time learning it. Its very versatile and you can get something half decent looking up in no time once you have the hang of it.
  12. I do t generally let others share my kit so it's never a problem. I think in all my years all I've had damaged by others is 2 ropes. 1 was a climbing rope cut with a chainsaw, the other was a rigging line that I was using to clear a storm damaged tree. I needed the groundie to tie a midline knot and pull a trunk with the truck, rather than doing a bowline on a bite(which he knew how to do) he tied a stupid know which obviously become un doable right in the middle of my 60m line
  13. If a company I work for damages my gear they pay for it, simple as
  14. I use a rigging plate beneath a petzl tandem pulley then just clip a return line to the rigging plate, and belay it from a krab or pulley set up near me in the tree. You may be able to about make it out in this video. [ame] [/ame] Sometimes just having a bunch of slings is quicker, but in the case of the video it was quite a walk for the groundies to bring the slings my side of the moat
  15. Very common with Sycamore especially
  16. Thats a fat old trunk John. Would have been a lovely one to ring down!
  17. How far was the crane sat? Looks like it should have been able to take bigger pieces?
