  1. I think they are great trees but view them probably a bit different to you, ie as an arborist and someone who potentially has to climb them. Not the most pleasant trees to work on by any means!
  2. This part is most certainly true. If you are a good worker you will always find work easy in this trade regardless of your skillset
  3. Mick Stockbridge
  4. Didn't have to deal with any of that on this particular job thankfully, no layby's
  5. Carried out a months work of tree work on the new A1(M) around 22 years ago. Most of it involved thinning the roadside stands. Part of the contract was to litter pick all the plots and we took that on ourselves. Didn't have the luxury of littler picking handles, all was done by hand and a lot of it involved crawling through the blackthorn thickets on our hands and knees. There was a whole load of crap in there that had been there for a lot of years. Loads of old bottles full of suspiciously coloured liquids that were so old and degraded they disintegrated in your hands when you picked them up. We wore rubber gloves underneath gauntlets, but it was still grim. There was a Mcdonalds at Alconbury that we had stopped at to eat every night throughout the works. No one had any appetite on the litter picking days. Had about a week of that all in all.
  6. Have you done your research into what you'd be likely to earn? Its probably safe to say a tree surgeons wage is going to be a massive drop from online advertising
  7. Had a prang John?
  8. Well done!
  9. Positive review on the Dolmar 4 stroke strimmer here My Dolmar 4 stroke 24.5cc trimmer review | LawnSite WWW.LAWNSITE.COM I purchased this trimmer last week and it has preformed amazing. I bought the speed feed head with it and total with tax was $350. I have put about 8...
  10. Ask @shavey if he can get a Dolmar version
  11. Only one I have used is the Honda(even though mine was Stihl branded). Can't comment on the Makita, but their general product range is good. Can't see theres much to go wrong with it. See where you can get the best deal is what i'd say
  12. less vibrations and noise, lovely to start. You can put your hand over your head and start it with it mounted on your back its that easy. Mine was for home use, although I did do a few commercial jobs with it. I don't think you'll be disappointed with one. Wish I hadn't sold mine really
  13. I had a Stihl 4 stroke which was basically a Honda rebadged. Good reliable machine, had it for about 12 years and recently sold it on. Depends what you are doing with it though, it doesn't have the speed of a 2 stroke thats for sure.
  14. They’ll probably be your best bet by the sounds of it
  15. No you can't, but some companies will offer an introductory NCB based on that.
  16. Have you tried NFU?
  17. Agreed with the above, sounds like someone just being an arse
  18. No idea why the price was but I expect the crane and road closure alone must have been somewhere in the region of 1k add to that 2 climbers, 3 Groundsman, 2 trucks and a chipper and so the maths
  19. Didn't count them Timon, but it was between 30-40 I think. Yep felt it next day!
  20. Yep agree, it was a shame up to a point. However its the client who has to live with the tree, not the neighbours and with it not being TPO'd were well within their rights to do what they did. It was a nice tree I have to say. The neighbouring properties who were directly affected by the trees presence certainly didn't look like pissed off neighbours to me, in fact they watched most of the job being carried out over the course of the day.
  21. I suppose in this case launch just means make known. I agree, it probably could be clearer. Is it worth waiting for? If you're a battery fan, and have a need of a ground saw in this power band then i'd say yes.
  22. Those were josh’s cuts, and yes you are pretty much spot on
  23. pre launch to get interest. Look on the bright side, if you went and purchased a lesser saw without knowing this one was coming you'd be annoyed come October!
