  2. personally i always fell a tree 10" from the ground
  3. what felling cuts are being taught at colleges these days? seems most of the people i see fresh out of college are using very shallow felling cuts, which are fine for production, but IMO not very useful in arb. Anyone recently out of college who has been taught any technical felling technique, ie, tapered hinges etc?

  12. thats right, and probably a reasonable good guide for someone with absolutely no knowledge of firewood whatsoever. anyone who has sold any ammount of firewood will know that 90% of it depends on how efficient the customers fireplace is. in our last house we had a big inglenook fireplace.....even ash burnt crap

  14. yeah well i think theres not much else to be said about that....some people think its good, others dont, lets move on from that and revise something that everyone can live with please
  15. ok so then rather than criticizing, focus on revising a version which would be more realistic. that would be of more benefit to anyone that picking apart someone elses version. kinda like for arguements sake a chipper manufacturer focus their efforts on rubbishing someone elses machine rather than improving on their own
  16. seriously though tony....as fantastic a piece of kit as it is, for £1700??? how often does it actually come out? i mean my porty only comes out a handful of times a year!
  17. tim. in defense of mb, as a freelance climber he doesn't have the need attract groundstaff. like me, and yourself for that matter, he gets what he's given on the day, if he doesnt like that he can choose not to work for said employer again. wether or not we agree with his article or not, the one thing cant be changed is that he took his personal time to write that with the help of others with no particlular real personal gain....that alone has to be commendable if nothing else.
  18. we went last week, thoroughly enjoyed it
