  1. convoy, 98 plate i think 98 onwards has transite enginge and gearbox, make sure before you buy! for 4000 you oughta be able to pick up something pretty decent. i paid 3400 for mine 2 years ago and it only had 50,000 on the clock.
  2. i drive an ldv....depending what model you get they have the same running gear as a transit, so between those 2 i'd go ldv, you'll get a whole lot more for your money. definetly be worth looking at an isuzu or mitsubishi canter though, they seem reasonably cheap second hand
  3. heres my advice nod, dont let it confuse you. just go through it bit by bit over the course of a week, then go back to it again and again. thats how i approached it, all of a sudden what seemed confusing was real easy. its just a case of familiarising yourself with it.
  4. i seem to remember a few years back timberwolf started to recommend the blades were sharpened with a concave surface rather than straight surface....if i also recall right didnt they change their mind on this? whats the current recommendation regarding that?
  5. she'll catch her death dressed like that this time of year!
  6. my accountant uses sage, as do most, and subsequently they like their clients to use sage, but when i took my quickbooks data to my accountant she said they were more than workable. its just figures to them at the end of the day
  7. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intuit-QuickBooks-Regular-Business-Payroll/dp/B000EEVUVA/ref=sr_1_3/026-7171153-1816416?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1192738020&sr=8-3
  8. i just looked at the price for the 2008 version, its certainly gone up a fair bit!
  9. well if you dont get round to it before april, theres always capel we can have a play about
  10. quickbooks regular 2005 it was only £150 if i recall right
  11. maybe the german machines dont have the adjustable height tracks? i know the jensen i used to use didnt, the body itself tilted but not as good as adjustable track heights IMO
  12. I just thought i'd start this thread for those starting out down the self employed route. I did my bookwork in a ledger book for the first year, and whilst it worked fine i found it wasnt so efficient and also i'd let it get a bit behind. I switched over to quickbooks 1 year in, and although it looked complicated at first glance, once i got into using it within a week i'd learnt my way round it. I now find i enter my expenses on an evening basis, no recording invoices as they record automatically as you write them out. Viewing your financial position is all done on a mouse click with access to detailed spread sheets instantly. I'd definetly recommend it to anyone starting out on their own. http://quickbooks.intuit.co.uk/index.jsp?se=google&cmp=Intuit_UK_Brand&ad=quickbooks&kw=quickbooks
  13. ok, that would make sense, their tracked machine is very compact
  14. seems a high proportion of jensens to timberwolfs....dont seem to see many jensens on the road, not round here anyway
  15. I'd just like to say a thankyou, and welcome to our newest sponsor, Timberwolf

  18. well good luck, try posting in the employment forum, there may be someone near you that can give you a day here and there
  19. why dont you start out as self employed, doing a day here and there for each company till you decide where you want to be? from a business perspective its always nice to have someone you can call on for a day here and there for that extra large job.
  20. are you planning on going it alone from the start?
  21. Just to confirm, the treeme boots in question are the aqua-stop versions. Also Sevsafe have kindly donated 3 pairs of bolle safety glasses as recently dicussed on the forum for a further 3 runner up places, many thanks for that. thats 6 prizes in all to be had.
