  1. what do you consider your basic climbing gear for each climb? i consider myself pretty much of a minimalist, and other than mt secondary strop all i carry is a sling on a biner with a twin pulley for redirects
  2. wotcha doing with the climbing wall mate
  3. theres been above average traffic on arbtalk today...im assuming many of you didnt bother working? I worked the morning....would much rather just not have bothered though!
  4. if you buy a saw mail order any dealer should carry out the warranty work...they wont like it. but i think im right in saying as a dealer they are bound by it?
  5. I'd just like to welcome the sites newest sponsor Chipper-Tech The company specializes in the hire and sale of woodchippers and also deal in chainsaws, lawnmowers as well as gear for the tree surgeon. Their site is under construction at the moment but has viewable pages.
  6. Hi guys and gals, just some market research. I know how a lot of you came by the site, but im interested in the newer members particularly thanks
  7. thanks chris, is that your main area of work?
  8. these ideas are merely us bored climbers looking for new stuff to try out!! get the hang of using a pulley and advanced hitch to start with, then you can start playing around. it only looks complicated because its all new!
  9. personally i use a v.t on anything, but if you are just starting to experiment with advanced hitches i'd suggest playing around with a few, probably begin with a distel. theres quite a few knots here to look at http://www.mytreelessons.com
  10. tockmal....i think bill probably knows a bigger saw would be best, but wants to know if this set up will get him by....the answer is yes, just not very efficiently!
  11. hi bill, welcome to the forums. i dont have an ms260 but i know that an 18" bar is within the recommended guide bar length in the stihl catalogue. In my experience saws in general run ok with the maximum length guide bar recommended, but sharpening is more crucial...ie, if you are running a small bar and the slightly lose the edge you wont feel it as much, with the maximum length bar you'll be working harder straight away if that makes sense
  12. the problem is when teaching people, how do you assess who are the muppets??? therefore it makes it easier to just say no one handing period!
  13. you've posted a lot of pics in the past of extremely well shaped trees matty, keep it up!
  14. deva, my wifes an Anerican RN, im sure she would be happy to talk to your missus!
  15. thanks gerry, very odd how it was at the same point in each cut...that wasnt coincidence, so there must be a specific reason for it.
  16. we're tree surgeons....like we can afford legal action!!
