  1. theres a guy called bodean who posts here, might be able to help!
  2. i think if something gets broken through carelessness, ie, vut and chuck rather than lowering then its the climbers responsibility, its just proving that it was through carelessness? at the end of the day the boss isnt paying the employee a premium on top of their wages for them to be able to afford mishaps, thats in his pricing. as a contract climber i get lumbered with some pretty crappy stuff sometimes, if i know theres particularly fragile targets such as asbestos that will break with a twig i will tell the boss beforehand its at his finiancial risk. anything within my control is my problem!
  3. my velcro is wearing deva, ive had them 2 years. not a problem to replace it though, u just have to drill out the rivet, get the new pads and rivet it straight back on as far as i can see
  4. good post pete....specially the part about trusting your rope....it really is operator error we have to concentrate on
  5. cheers drew...im pretty certain thats the knot they refer to as the XT?
  6. hey everyone....we've added a chat room to the site. you can find it by clicking on "chat" in the navbar at the top of the page
  7. my geckos have regular foot straps.....i dont think i like the new velcro straps either
  8. town being the little village pub?
  9. v.....the reason you probably havent found a stihl to compare to a husky is in my opinion down to the set up. the stihl 341 is far better than a 357 when dropped a pitch, but with the standard 3/8 it does feel slow and heavy just like you said
  10. 2 kids here......my nights on the town are long gone! have fun though
  11. would you consider a stihl or is your choice definetly between those 2?
  12. thats a tough one....anyone can go and buy a chainsaw in B&Q for £100.....i very much doubt many, if any of those users will be wearing chainsaw protection at all.
  13. they just take some getting used to thats all....if you've climbed on regular gaffs for several years like i had, theres a whole lot of muscle memory that needs to be forgotten and re-learned
  14. mine are, but regardless, the aluminium ones have tje same gaff
  15. Received a message from Ian of fletcherstewarts this morning. He forwards his apologies for the lateness of his judging results due to a house move and temporary loss of broadband. He's back with us now and the results should be with us for monday! good luck everyone
  16. is anyone using the geckos and if so which gaffs do you prefer? i bought mine with the original gaffs on but eventually changed to the more conventional straight gaffs. I'm more comfortable on the straight gaffs but found the angled gaffs came in handy, specially on thicker barked trees or ivy covered.
