  1. highscales was certainly original...thats what we're looking for really, and that was why i initially made it 30 sec vids....nice short clips that anyone in the world has time to compile, the challenge is making something interesting happen in that time frame. you could record someone spending 2 minutes doing a hinge and backcut in a tree, then the only cool parts going to be the 10 seconds or so when the tree falls over anyways!
  2. that would be my concern! i looked at it myself when i first started using the m-direct, quickly decided it wasnt safe. the pulley in the krab saves a negligable degree of friction to be worth taking the risk IMO
  3. this is about all i use mine for http://www.arbtalk.co.uk/showthread.php?t=116
  4. for rigging you mean?? and how big a branch are we talking?
  5. ok what do you all think is a reasonable time without leaving the judges with hours of footage to peruse
  6. i might re-think that 30second rule, perhaps we can just use it as a guideline
  7. but it wont fit the hitch climber unfortunately
  8. id highly recommend that no one uses that non locking revolver biner in this application
  9. norwich is better, about an hours drive from where said workshop would take place. we could possible arrange a climbing workshop too
  10. well depending what part of the country you want it to be i know the guy who owns haughley park, lots of mature trees over there
  11. i find myself wishing i had one of those some days....more often now im getting older!
  12. i believe nod from treeworker is in the process of organizing one. im sure it will be posted up here if theres any spaces, keep an eye out
  13. heres some things for you to ponder. some of it, being american written isnt applicable, perhaps we should get our heads together and revise it for the UK with butch's permission. http://gypoclimber.com/view.php?pg=groundman
  14. welcome david, johnathon, and brushcutter
  15. well there ya go. if you had 10 guys working for you over here chances are 8 of them wouldnt be able to drive the bloody thing!
  16. 750kg and a lorry would be anything over a 3.5t truck and now to make things even harder, you cant drive a 7.5 ton on a standard uk license. new drivers have to take extra tests now to drive over 3.5t and also to be able to tow anything
  17. beacuse if everyone was towing big chippers, everyone would want a big lorry and that just costs too much to run for your average small biz
  18. Welcome to our newest site sponsor Saturn machine knives
  19. well..based on the short time ive used it compared to the tree motion i'd say yes
  20. you make some good points jonnie, and you;re right...you cant compare machines which are not comparable. a better poll would have been greenmech vs timberwolf, jensen vs scheisling
