might vary according to what spikes you use i guess. i use geckos and its plenty comfy underneath

anyone going to this? The site for this year's event is near Rothley in Leicestershire. The site is accessed from the North Bound A6 about 100 yards from its junction with the A46. The Event will be signposted. Open to the public from 9:30am Entrance £5 per Car which includes a programme. Judging Commences 2:00pm, Prize Giving 4:00pm Event also includes a Ploughing Match Organised by the Leicestershire Agricultural Society, Trade Stands, and Craft Displays. Catering Facilities on site.

agreed reg, i think it just needs slight revision here and there, maybe shortened slightly

point 3. if theres a 3 man crew, 1 of them needn't have a drivers license, so long as he can get to my yard somehow. point 4. many of the points here such as ensuring first aid kits are in the trucks are down to the employer and/or foreman IMO foreman could just as easily, and in my experience more likely be the climber point 7. "Call the customers before the crew arrives so that they can move their vehicles." "Determine if a traffic flagger is needed for busier roadways" these again are points that should have been addressed by the person quoting the work in the first place, and its the boss's job to call ahead to customers and arrange the job...again, IMO point 8. "Make sure spurs have gaff guards affixed, and that all saws have scabbards." I personally sort these things out myself point 23. "Learn how to drop cable and telephone lines" this is actually illegal over here

its all very well a groundy having an aeriel rescue ticket but we all know in reality unless the groundy is climbing day in day out its highly unlikley he/she is going to get up a tree anywhere near in time if it came to it

supposedly, never been asked for mine though -
points 3,4,7,8 and 23 need revising or deleting. some of the things just arent all down to the groundsman, an example, sheathing of saws. I wouldnt expect the groundsman to sheath my saws..and definetly wouldnt want anyone but me anywhere near sharpening my chains, or gaffs

in my experience its the velcro straps that will give out before the clips. you need to be careful particularly with the top strap, if you have it set wrong when you put your silky back in the sheath you can catch the strap with the blade. i learnt that the first time round, now i make sure i have the sheath pulled up higher in the sawpod
