There was a fantastic interview with General Sir Mike Jackson on LBC this afternoon.  Unfortunately this clip (http://www.lbc.co.uk/radio/presenters/shelagh-fogarty/general-sir-mike-jackson-warns-of-putins-plans-for/) as anyone that heard the entire conversation - in context - would recognise, does no justice to the broader context in which he described the former Soviet Union, the Russian people and more specifically Putin.

The clip paints a rather dark picture whereas what he said - in context - was that it was likely the failings of Western democracies, post WWII, to more enthusiastically embrace and engage; preferring, in his view, to portray the USSR as the bogey man and route of all evils which may well have accelerated the self fulfilling prophecy despite there being much to respect and admire and much in common with the people of the former Soviet block countries.

Looking back at the recent history and diplomacy between the 1989 fall of the Berlin wall and the 2014 Russian annexation of the Crimea, it's easy to see how none of the lessons that could have been learnt post WWII viz-a-viz potential relations with Russia have been applied within the EU which has maintained it's determined, insidious creep East engulfing (and emasculating) weaker economies in order to subjugate them, addict like, to reliance and dependency upon EU funding to survive (bribery and extortion by any other name) whilst simultaneously antagonising the Russian state by creeping ever closer to it's national borders.

EU = peace and stability in Europe?  Pull the other one!!  It's the most destabilising factor for peace and stability in Europe and you didn't see that on the side of a bus!

General Sir Mike addressed a course I was attending in 2006, been a big fan ever since.

Fair point Kevin but there’s been a fair amount of anti Russia by mr Churchill between the great wars to keep the whole vibe going.
In retrospect an already political thrust.
The view of whether western or eastern economic/Philosophical ideas persuaded Eastern European countries one way or the other is fairly simple wouldn’t you think.

Ah ' Mad Mike ' ( maybe not so mad after all- ) Yup Churchill- liked bombing Iraqis before it became an international sport. Afghanistan seemed popular then too ;) followed by the Suez invasion - dunno If UK always trys to punch above our weight - but we should start thinking things through first ..... K

"In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act."

So when one of your buddies posted a video stating "a Muslim immigrant beating up a person on crutches" thats where the truth got bent.
When I say bent, I meant broken, buggered beyond belief for the sole purpose of perpetuating the atmosphere of hatred that the pondslime feeds on.

Facts. A person on crutches got beaten up.
The aggressor was Dutch, his parents are Dutch, so are his grandparents...

For the president (you know the one that shouts about fake news so much) of the USA to retweet such a thing without getting anywhere near the truth, then criticise another head of state for reminding him he's being a knob is as far from speaking the truth as you can get.

Ohhh, so the other two videos are true then?

Let's be honest here, the authorities are willing to lie to push a PC line.... I think all three videos are true ;)

What I find amazing is that people like you condemn Trump for sending these tweets but don't condemn the violence shown in the tweets.
