If they were to do the manufacturing of these in the UK, as opposed to the far east, where would the raw materials have to come from? (considering our reduced amount of steel making facilities, and the economics of increasing domestic extraction

So, assuming the economics of extracting domestic raw materials (and tighter environmental laws etc) makes that a non starter (why the mines etc closed?) where would the raw materials for UK manufacturing of this kind of equipment come from? 

Or would we import the steel that's been manufactured elsewhere?(as domestic production of raw steel also appears to be too expensive). 

 

It's not great that we import all of this stuff, and it would be fantastic if we still had enough of the skills, resources and facilities to do it,  but from what I understand they've been let go and without the raw materials it probably makes more sense on time, financial and environmental levels to have them built elsewhere.

So if you think China is a piss poor example, then which country would you choose for it's commitment to renewable energy sources? Bhutan is 100%, and they don't have trains, which you'd like, but they're obviously a special case so you're not allowed to pick them.

That manufacturing base is being built up steadily, shame it’s taken so long, approx 11500 turbines up around the uk most with 3 blades. UK supply is roughly 10% but on the up.
