That must be that tolerant peace loving religion again. Unless of course you happen to disagree be a woman a Christian or be Jewish etc etc

Whichever way you look at it, this situation is not going to end well, for anyone. Without going into the religious, politic or geography, both sides are now locked into a course of action that is pretty much irreversible.

Tragic, as is all conflict, but inevitable.

Yep, that sums it all up really. A tragedy for all caught up in it, regardless of which side they're on.

 

Just got to hope the situation doesn't escalate now. Bad enough as it is, without other vested interests getting drawn in. The Middle East is one big tinderbox, with countries like Iran handing out free matches.

I think the one thing that almost everyone here can agree with is that religion is the poison that is fuelling this whole nonsense. Without religion, there would be far fewer reasons for people to needlessly hate and kill each other. 

 

It's funny, as you're younger and you grow up you naively and innocently believe that humanity is going in the right direction, but as you get older and more cynical, you realise we're just as stupid, bigoted, irrational and intolerant as ever. As a species, we're probably f**ked.

The issue with religious doctrine is that it can be used as an excuse/cover for other motivations. 

 

Best to give despots as few reasons as possible to oppress/kill each other.
