a spot price that varies day to day. Found the site but not worked out how to get longer term prices yet. Maybe others will have more luck

Yes that is my situation; I am on a fixed price until the end of next year so I have just over a year to put up solar panels to charge my car.  And I can’t afford a fancy array with a feed in to the grid, I am going for about a 3kw off grid array on a garden room with no battery storage, so it should cost less than £4000, diy fitting of course.

We're fixed price nighttime leccy until June '23 (21p/kw/hr). A Sussex barn with 9m long pitched roof will be going up soon so we'll be looking to install panels too.

The rainwater will be going into the first of two old 1200l non-bunded oil tanks!

If Starmer can’t make this the stick he might as well quit as leader of the opposition. As for the Tories as much  as i have always been a Tory voter this may well be a death sentence. Hopefully people will take to the streets big time over this.

As we're talking energy etc... anyone know why the retail price of domestic heating oil has shot up over the last week?  Will it fall back again?

this shows electricity and gas ..... also do not forget the income tax rates of most of these countries are higher than ours ..so at the end of the day  it is hard to do a comparison in context to the cost of living ...

You could also highlight countries like Sweden utilise nuclear and energy from waste to reduce gas usage.

 

Which is something we as a country failed to do and have historically been exporting our waste plastic to Sweden to burn!.

 

Nuclear wise they went Westinghouse as apposed to the EPR used by the French which Finland only just put online after something like 12 years delays.

I did hear somewhere that if you applied these percentage rises to beer it works out at around £50 a pint .

Everything is tracking the gas price as that is used for most of our electrcity so the wind farms and other generators with fixed costs must be doing well and yes but not by much.

 

I just hope the big players' shareholders will let them re invest in renewables with this windfall.

 

I still cannot fathom why, in this street of 100 dwellings almost all of which have available roof space like mine, no one else has invested in panels. I have just ordered 1.5kW more and that might extend my grid free season by a few days in March and November
