Yes, but there are many on minimum wage who don't get benefits. A single person with no children would get no benefits which they would have to make up by doing overtime, which means they would pay more tax.

The fact still remains, companies are making huge profits and we are paying for it.

In this scenario would they not get working tax credits?

Anyway, we agree that its should be the corporations that should pay these people a proper wage so they they are not topped up by those who have gone out of their way to make a living for themselves.

Parasites.

Come on42 realistically what on gods earth did you think was gonna be the long term repercussions of, BBL and associated defaults, Furlough schemes to pay people to stay at home, self employed grants etc etc never mind the billions wasted on useless PPE,Testing and quite frankly vaccines of to say the least dubious effectiveness 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️come on actually think about what was done here for a minute 😞.  What a lot of that madness you backed achieved was to allow these so called parasites to get back into a position ( or redistribute billions) where they can increase their profits at a monumental scale. I’m pretty sure a few on here warned of the folly of what was being done and again I’m pretty sure a good few more on here defended it all absolutely wholeheartedly and ridiculed anyone whom questioned a single thing “ tin hat being the favourite “didn’t they 42. I really wish there had been a opt in opt out choice where you can play the mad game if you are terrified and believe the bollocks but at the end you have to pick up the tab, whereas if you don’t buy into it and just go about your business, possibly catch covid and get on with things as the overwhelming majority did, you are exempted from the mess and costs that must surely follow 2 years of utter utter stupidity.

Nah, they would get nothing. That aside, it's proof trickle down economics doesn't work.

Well, companies can't pay less than the minimum wage so your options are very limited without resorting to a free for all American style system.

At the same time you'll be then wanting rent or mortgage caps per month as that's one of the primary outlays.

Obviously I am generalising and ignoring those who expect the state to pay for gaggles of kids.

That would make absolutely no difference. Minimum wage increases do not act upon an economy in isolation.

True, but if sooner the corporations pay them more than the working man who has achieved something in his life and is being penalised for it.

Would that put the price of good up? Of course. But then we can pick and choose which goods to buy, we can’t pick and choose blanket taxation.

It’s a moot point though as it’s never ever going to happen. The poor get poorer, the rich get richer and the middle class pay for it all and are told by the Green Eyed Monsters to stop complaining.
