If the reason for producing an ID card was to stop voting fraud I wouldn't have a problem with it, but we all know that isn't the case.

Voting fraud, abuse of NHS and the only practical way of actually finding out who is in the country seem like valid reasons for some sort of NID system.
Perhaps don’t make it mandatory to carry at all times, BUT required for the above?
However given that the Gov can’t even crack the admin to issue veterans ID cards…..

Not sure if I’ve missed it previously by not paying attention - turns out the porn king is Niel Parish.

Always found him a highly disagreeable type.

AMP.THEGUARDIAN.COM
Spokesperson for chief whip said Parish was reporting himself to the parliamentary authorities over the allegations

Agreed - not sure of the numbers but I’d suspect a high proportion of UK population already have a driving licence.

Not mandatory to carry it, but mandatory to produce it at a predetermined time / occasion.

We’re probably best part of the way there anyway, with care and appropriate checks & balances, it can’t be beyond the whit of man to get it done.

I suspect the biggest hurdle is that there are those in government that don’t actually want the consequences of such a system. Like - finally it will be possible to determine just how many illegal / undocumented immigrants there really are in the UK.

Law of unintended consequences....

I don't really disagree with that, but that isn't what Boris is suggesting, he only wants ID cards as proof of Identity for voting... I wonder why that is?

Because some Mosques are involved in coercion and block voting which delivers undemocratic results in certain areas

It is also apparent that some mosques take direct instruction and financial support from hostile foreign entities and prescribed terrorist organisations which is de-facto direct international aggression against a sovereign foreign state.

That'll do, oh will it?

Mosques only tend to swing marginal seats, let's face it, the only reason Boris wants voter ID (and nothing more) is to swing the vote in the conservatives favour. The young, very old and the apathetic won't bother getting an ID just to vote. Wake up and smell the coffee, it's voter rigging in plain view.

Similar happening here where there is a large population of first and second generation immigrants and is why we were in the early trials of having to show evidence  at the poll station.

And seeing as only 4.4% of the population of the UK are Muslims (the folk who use mosques) that argument doesn't hold much water imho.
