If you lose it as I have you explain why you can't produce it..  they do some digging and find your OK, then tell you to get a new one..

 

Then you promise to get yourself a new one but never find the time..

Yea but don't they expire after 10 years ? When you reapply you get the latest version .

lost mine twenty years back, never got round to reaplying..  I'll get round to it if I have to..   I can't see the point with me though, I'll lose that after ten minutes..  

 

as far as I'm concerned the less I have the less I have to lose..

It's worth keeping the paper counterpart even if it is technically invalid.  When driving around places like greek islands, where police cars don't have computers, they like to see 'papers'.
