Can we settle on a middle ground of a points based immigration system?

Im at a loss to understand what the opposition to such an approach could be.

There is no doubt (in my opinion) that there are massive societal benefits from a controlled system, and massive dangers from an uncontrolled system.

Thats not racist - that's plain good sense, unless I'm too racist to understand what nobody seems to be able to adequately explain / acknowledge??

Yes indeed Kev,

The problem will be, what do you get points for? Points is a great system, if we all agree on the points!
Unless of course we just bring in australias system?
Probably unlikely?

Not too much wrong with Australian system...

Having an employment sponsor, a shortage category skill, and sufficient bunce to look after yourself if things go TU....

That looks like a good starting point to me....

From the second mostest sensiblest member of Arbtalk that's a ludicrous suggestion.
Who would man our ghettos if we adopted that policy?

You could start a whole new thread asking for nominations great wise one

It could be the land of hemp & flax for the weaving of hairy shirts and natural fibre flip-flop! Hand rolled oats, granola and yoghurt as a compulsory breakfast, vegan main meal and PA piped Corbinesque doctrine starting at 05:00 with the group exercise. Elevensies would include pilates and group hugging, compulsory humming and meditation 4hrs/day, free love and mind altering drugs for all......

Hang on.....

that actually sounds quite utopian o.O

What we really need to do is stop benefits for migrants. You look at the migrants coming to the UK via the Mediterranean. They go from Turkey to Greece to Bulgaria to Serbia to Croatia to Italy to France then onto the UK. The migrants go to the countries with the most generous benefit system. We stop benefits and they stop coming...

We also need to start being honest with ourselves. Migration from some cultures has not been successful. Mainstream politicians either have to accept that or watch as extremist parties get into power.

Last year Hungary had a referendum to decide if they should accept Merkel's migrants. 98% voted against accepting them... It's the people that want to accept asylum seekers etc that are the extremists....the average man on the street just doesn't want them....

What a seriously disturbing idea MrJ....

Political Rehab Centres for the masses..,

They could be called "Granola Camps"..
somewhere to send all of the budding nuts, fruits and flakes for re-alignment [emoji51]

Looks like they are already taking shape in Scotland's University's .....
