Poor thing. Worth saving a biscuit or two of that.
Interesting structure. It looks like the tree was splitting into at least 4 stems shortly above that point. Though maybe the two "eyes" then died off.

Used my new Fiskars isocore splitting maul/builders axe for the first time today. Very good. Split some awkward lumps of curved grained sycamore and some very straight grained oak with relative ease. The maul will complement my X27 nicely.

A full afternoon logging oak, using some top equipment. Husqvarna 550xp2 to cut and the Fiskars X27 and Isocore maul to split. It is a joy to work with good tools.

Got to cut some nice straight 18inch softwood for once yesterday. A couple of logs with over a cube of firewood in which was satisfying.

Kawasaki Mule plus Arbtrolley has been a Godsend in the muddy conditions caused by the recent rain.  Hardly left a mark in the woodland as we extracted some Sycamore
