Right I need an upgrade to my cs100. It's now the bottleneck in productivity,but will be getting kept for the jobs it suits.

My requirements;

1. Easy to maintain.

2. Min 6 inch capacity.

3. 30k ish upper budget.

My shortlist;

Quadchip 160.

Timberwolf 190 tracked.

Bandit 90xp

TP 175 vario spout.

So which would you have and why?

Which would you avoid and why?

Thanks, I realise they are different capabilities. Ideally it would be nine inch tracked turntable, but for 30k that ain't going to happen. My work load is mostly domestic but I do some work on hedgerows in fields where tracked would be useful.

why not buy a new road tow & a used tracked chipper ,as the road tow would be doing most off the work , :001_smile::biggrin:

i'd personally go for a TW230 over a 190

Even with the reported cracking problems Steve?

If I had that budget I reckon I'd go for a 190 and get a towing license.

From what I've read the two are similar in performance, which sounds impressive for the 230, but on the flip side it's probably asking a lot of a machine that's built to be sub750kg.

It's taking on a lot more than it's predecessor, the 150, but all of the structural framework has had to be made lighter.

The bandit 90 is a massive machine and not really in the same league as the others, it is more than twice the weight of the quad chip and twice the weight of the others. It will be twice the length of the quad chip too. Good chipper but built for the back of a big truck, you'll be pushing 7 ton with a full transit.

I'd have the TP, good basic machines.

The Bandit 90xp is approx 2.1 tonnes & we have a new one for demo if you wish, it will easily out chip everything on the list, out last everything & all Bandit machines are a doddle to maintain. Well within your budget even with a full winch kit, 9.5"x17" opening. I can even offer a 12" machine in that budget, give me a shout.

Bandits are awesome machines. Would have one myself if I could but not sure about towing one on the back of a tranny or van. They need something bigger if you're going to be traveling any distance.
