Worst ever year for keeping logs dry

just after new year my log shed flooded through, the land was so saturated the water just came down the mountain in one end of the shed and out the other, never seen that before in 30 years

Same here put them in the shed dry on a dry day go to deliver them and thier mouldy, resorted to putting a load in the workshop with the radiant heater on them were lovely and dry last night when I left got there this morning and wind and rain had got up over night and blown in under the double doors and soaked them.

We were up to 90 days of rain with only 4 dry here although we did put plastic over our first 300 tons, unfortunately that ran out last week. We're lucky that we dry our wood but that's now taking 4 weeks instead of 2 or 3.

We've finally had a few dry days, the problem is it's getting colder now and if the wood freezes like last year we'll be blunting chains all the time.

 

Still it's all part of the fun of firewood. ;-)

What about the fine green mesh ( like round paintball sites )? We put a load on sides of Dutch barn to keep direct sunlight off milled timber but allow good air flow through stops most of the splash at ground level and if you could put em up like curtains and open up in sunnier weather!😀

Stop worrying about it and sell them as is, if someone wants to burn firewood then they should have storage to keep sufficient stock dry for their needs.

That's alright in theory but they wait until the last few left and ring up expecting dry logs when it's been piss in down for weeks and you ran out of there size of logs last week. Joys of selling logs

Worst year ever for keeping anything dry. Found our car full of water this morning , just isn't stopping. Y'all know the last 4 months have been the wettest / dullest on record.

 

We had a suicide in the timber business near here just after new year all becuase the weather has trashed their business. One of the biggest loggers in the SW has been parked up for over a month. Same here - we're ticking over but haven't had wood out since September!

 

Total utter killer. You can't help but think of a career change or emigrating.

Our Land Rover fills up with water at the first sign of drizzle, we've been keeping koi carp in it this winter!
