If the bar's long enough often I use a regular bag (with the sheath on!) stick it through the bag straps at each side front or back and have everything else in the bag.

Yes, the more I think about the more sensible using an old rucksack seems to be. I just don't want to get it covered in oil!!

A top handle saw strop or similar length webbing sling, larks footed around back handle and an old carabiner clipping it to top handle. The sling it over shoulder and off you go.

I dread to think how many miles I've carried my top handle using this method, works equally well of ground saws and a MSA 160 is pretty lifht

Once I'm sure Sthil produced a backpack that was designed as a clearing saw harness but could carry a chainsaw, fuelcan a few tools and a bit of food all at same time, iv tried Google but no joy on images so next time I'm at dad's I'll have a look at some early -mid 90's catalogs that might still be in my old room nd see if I dreamt it or not.

I've got a Stihl MSA 160 electric chainsaw and I'd like to find a way to carry it on my back. My logic is that it would be great to be able to carry the saw, a spare battery, toolkit, thermos and other bits of kits in a bag to site. I wish to do so as I've got to walk with crutches after breaking my back years ago and carrying a saw in one hand and using crutches is a bit of a clunky affair.

I've found a couple of images on Google of people using chunky rucksack frames to carry massive chainsaws but that's just way over the top. I'd much rather find something a bit like for climbing gear where a 3kg chainsaw can be clipped onto the back of a rucksack.

Any ideas?

Hi mate you can buy a proper bag from STIHL mate to put it in mate thanks Jon
