Forgive me if I give little credence to the opinion of some one who thinks Labour hold no responsibility for the dire state of the countries current financial position :001_rolleyes:

read my post again, start at the beginning...

Recessions don't start in England/Britain...

So how in hells bells can you blame Labour for a recession?..

What did Labour do that the Americans didn't?..... how much borrowing have the conservatives done since coming into office?...do you know?...

Thats like blaming the rain for your leaky roof :001_rolleyes:

Of cause we are still overspending, its not possible to simply stop the mismanagement over night, just look at tax credits.

Gents,

For a little perspective, having grown up on a small farm, "ah knowed" what a days/weeks work was (I did not particularly like it mind) especially when watching the Rds Service guys sitting in a van playing cards, 'tother side of the hedge, cos hey its raining!

Happenstance I then ended up working for Local government since 1984.

Big Government is desperately, desperately flawed, and horribly horribly inefficient from an insiders perspective.

I could quote specifics but feel that would be improper, and probably sackable.

Being a shite, useless employee is fine, telling stories is not!

Marcus

PS

Now routine for staff to take a few weeks, quite a few weeks sick, on full pay of course, when their parents die in their 70,s, 80's or 90's.

Then require a period of adjustment when they return to work.

Another staff member off with "stress", "rose from her death bed" , attended an internal job interview, got the better job, but still off with stress!

Truth is indeed stranger than fiction.

Have also seen this, from the inside, and couldn't agree more. It never ceases to amaze me the how's, whys and wherefore's.

This is so true:thumbdown:

And how ironic that the unions which were originally begun to help the weakest and most oppressed workers, are now mainly assisting those on the cushiest number to get even more favourable conditions.

One of the difficulties is that many have only ever worked within the PS and genuinely believe they work hard and are hard done by :001_rolleyes:

The Thatcher haters round here are generally the one's who bought their council houses for £8000 and sold them for £100.000 .

I'm old enough to remember the power being switched off at 7pm and rubbish mountains on our street .

I don't know the best way to run a country and I'm sure there are experts among us who think they do . This country is in major debt due to bad management not due to resession .

Huck,

A very genuine issue, and very much the same as the "Professional" politicans who rose through student Unions and into lifetime sinecures.

Ditto for the Consultants and Senior Administrators in the NHS.

Absolutly Zero experience of the real world, a days graft, or the hard earned value of every £stg.

Don't forget that the alternatives to Margaret thatcher were, Michael foot in 1983 or Neil kinnock in 1987.

She stood up to Europe, and I'm sure the people of the Falklands are grateful to her. Although, I didn't agree with selling off of council houses. Big mistake that. Unless you were buying one.
