How have you older climbers changed your style in the last few years.

Being one of the older climbers ( SAGA eligible for a few years ) although only part time nowadays, I have always used Drt and both ends of the rope with Blakes hitches , however today I used a Pantin for the first time and think it is really useful , I had a big (25 metre )twin stemmed , very resinous !! Monterey pine to dismantle which needed some long hauls a few times , especially after dinner and being able to use my leg instead of arms was a lot less effort ..... I have on many occasions in the past used Ascenders / Jumars for long ascents to good effect but found myself using the Pantin for any upward motion at all , very useful bit of kit , might help me keep on climbing for even longer !!

I think people like you are "devaluing the industry"

Just as much as the hordes of newly qualified college leavers who lower the price, old uns like you who've paid off your mortgage should have left the business instead of hanging around and "bed blocking"

You're ruining it for somebody or other. (I'm not sure who):001_smile:

(This is a joke btw)

I used to get really angry, either fear anger or trying to be quick anger? Now I've chilled out a bit with a few token swear words. I've never been mega fast but I'm at a point of not having anything to prove, I know what I can do and we'll get done what gets done (usually the right amount). On srt more now too, which can be a relief for the joints but also enjoy the job for having to think slightly differently.
