Could this woodland wasp sting death prevented?

I have been stung a few times when strimming long grass, and once hedge cutting. This guy was 82, but it seems the sheer number of wasps killed him, could maybe have killed a younger fitter person too.

Interested to know if anyone has ideas about what to do if a whole swarm attacks - this guy ran to his caravan and the shower to try to get them off his face. What else could he have done?

I think an old person is going to be more susceptible to this because of shock to their system and ability to get away. Of course people have more or less severe reacts to stings as well.

Hardly a revelation but I think running away is always going to be the best option.

It was recorded as accidental death but the wasps meant to do it so it should be murder. I hate the things and have a phobia about them and avoid instances by keeping well away or killing them on sight. I know they are just doing what is natural for them but it doesn't help. I have been stung quite a few times and don't suffer any extreme reaction and feel sorry for the family who have to deal with this tragic loss when he should have been enjoying his holiday.
