i used to use a wolsely clearway with a chain head on it, smashed everything in its path to bits, also the old jungle buster with a chain set on, think that was a wolsely too, old school kit did the job !

No guard is not an option either!! Seen it done on plenty of occasions.

Then seen that company get booted off sites for it!!

4mm cord on the 545RX would slow revs down far too much to work due to the density (See FB link on website).

FS410 is only rated to be fit with 2.7mm cord!!

Thanks for helping though :001_smile:

Anyone who had used diamond edge knows its the best. Nylium is reasonable but not as good IME. Regarding power I use 4 mm diamond edge cut to about 20 inches in my 52cc Chinese strimmer. Drives it no problem. Portek head using precut lengths. My guard is still in place but will accommodate 10 inch radius.

I also have a 40 cc Stihl and use 3 mm diamond edge or nylium for light cutting to use it up.

Just bought some "Siat" aluminium line, made in Italy, 2.7mm square. Looks like normal line but with sparkly bits in it!

First use of it, nothing special, but will see what it's like next time round after the reel has been in the water for a while

Hi,

Thanks for all your replies!!

This is an extreme photo, but hope you get an idea of why we were struggling!!

We have battled through today with the Oregon Nylium 3.5 square and a polycot/tricut head.

Dealer has 3.75mm Nylium in so will give that a test tomorrow.

First thoughts, tri cut head great for woody stuff, useless on grass....cord OK on woody stuff, ace on thicker grass.

Got some diamond edge on order so will see how that fares too!!

Cheers
