Thought this would be an interesting thread idea.

Personally I like felling the big stuff the harvester can't get to or handle. Stripping it out and marking and logging it up. You can't beat a big Douglas fir or even better a western red cedar, soft as butter and the smell is unbelievable.

I've got to agree. Love the sound (and feel) of a big tree hitting the deck!

I much prefer removals to pruning, with removals you can get stuck in and know when you have finished, pruning is so much more subjective, its easy for the customer to want just a bit more off:001_rolleyes:

And they never tell you while your up the tree, they always wait till you have come down, taken your gear off and put your rope away

Medium removals.

We are set up to deal with them best, and usually earn the best money.

I really enjoy specific branch removals as well.

Reductions are not my forte, and lets face it most of them are for the benefit of the customer not the tree.

I much prefer pruning first then removal when it dies after one of my "reductions", double bubble

Walking up and down my chestnut rack counting the stacks of green gold I've cut that day :) Blue crayon & a notebook, two of the most important tools in my bag!
