Not sure if your a big radio fan Sean, I am and something I heard today made me think of you. On radio 2 Jeramy Vine had a very courageous lady on,BBC Radio 2 - Jeremy Vine, 15/05/2015 if you jump to 1hour 10minuets it starts there.

 

She also has a book out which may interest you :001_smile:

Great set of photos of the Yews. You definitely have a talent there. Blown up to A2 and mounted on a wall would be excellent.

Glad you're getting out and about a bit more. Stretch those boundaries ;-)

Sean, you mentioned Kayaking. I have worked in an outdoor centre that specialises in activities for people with disabilities. No doubt you will be able to use a kayak and/or canoe. Just what is possible is hard to say at this stage. Don't hesitate to contact me when your ready if you need some pointers/contacts.

Shaun when you described your love of scrambling up steep embankments to check out fungi I remembered seing some footage of an American rock climber doing just that. He had a real bad accident resulting in him not being able to move most of his body but he wanted to get back up there doing big wall climbing. He used jumars to ascend the ropes but the most impressive thing was this specially designed heavy duty clothing he had (think it was kevlar or something). It allowed him to kind of use his body to sort of battle and thrutch along the rock without banging him up. Im not saying your gona be reduced to squirming along the floor but when you said "get amongst it" i though you could really get down there with something like that!I bet you could make a quick prototype with some motorbike stuff.best wishes.sam

Trees have always been sacred to me but never more so than now. Trees that due to size and health might have once been overlooked by myself or indeed condemned by me or other surveyors are now precious, all helping in their own way to aid my healing within this clinical environment. :001_smile:

Couple of links about paraplegic climbers.

 

Sean O'Neill has developed a harness for extreme rock climbing. (3000 foot vertical ascent!)

 

Not suggesting anything so dramatic but I am sure that the harness system could be adapted for tree climbing to give you access to the canopy if you wished.

So I'm thinking about designing my eco friendly wheel chair. I'm wondering if I can run it on my own pee?

I have to insert a catheter and urinate into an attached bag. I'm thinking that I could have a hose going straight from my bladder to a tank and run the wheel chair on urine. Thoughts please :biggrin:
