Is the wood stove fad over?

I am wondering if the wood burning stove is no longer the ,LIFESTYLE ,have to have item . In reality it is such a "Fag " to get going .

Is it? Not for me. I enjoy every bit of having a stove, and get more obsessed as time goes on.

 

Its a daft little Aga Wenlock, but unless wood buying in addition to that I can season myself prices me out of the market considerably, then I'll keep my stove (and other one next year).

We supply a few stove shops with logs to keep there display log burners going there as busy as ever.

Second that, the stove shops are still very busy, although I'd reckon with the money that CAN still be made, the affluent areas will soon be saturated with suppliers... I just keep my costs down and my product quality high and am always busy.

Wouldnt be without one, our living room is a cold place even with a double rad. Dont light it every eve, feels cosy when it is lit.

Not a bit of it, yes sales are slow for everyone it seems but the installers I talk to are as busy as ever. Just look at a small town and count the stove cowls? Someone has got to supply them

 

And when OPEC does get bored or those at Davos force them to watch the price of oil rocket. $200 a barrel was mentioned yesterday within five years and as for the price of cord. There simply is not enough wood being produced in this country and with most countries sending their timber to China there is going to a huge battle for who has the wood.

Perhaps regional. Last year (2013) one co in PLY out of seven installed over 1000 stoves; in 2014 it plummeted to 25!
