It can lift 850kg close in and has about 5m reach

So, not too useful. I mostly use mine for picking stuff up over walls and fences or picking pieces straight off trees and most things we lift are 2-300kg+ so you need to be able to lift this sort of weight with ease at 5-6 meters in order to reach over a pavement and a fence and down to the ground

Surely a side tip is a pita as pile needs shoving up all the time. Also you would need a removable side to tip chip out... pita!

I find side tips are easy & efficient - in many way better - have you ever run one?

I must admit no, its just my logic and imagination :blushing:

Need to sit down and think. Either x2 3.5t vehicles or a 6-6.5 t or rb44 with hgv

Im leaning towards x2 3.5t vehicles again

Just hinge from the top, 1 lever with a catch, simples.

Side tip you turn out the chip pile, yes some logs roll under but its an easy fix and with 4 wheel drive you can soon get out most situations:biggrin:

A decent tractor and a compliment of trailers alongside a 3.5 tonner would be a good stepping stone for those not keen on going down the HGV route.

Some lads cant back a trailer etc also having a second tipper is just one wehicle rather then another vehicle and trailer, as in space taken up on road or site

c1+e is 12 gtw

yes but many have C1+E by grandfather rights and they will have a note 107 on their licence which only allows GTW of 8.25tonnes so if the chipper exceeds 750kg you need to downplate or have lorry less then 7.5 tonnes.
