ms880 recoil

i was just reading a thread about someone injuring their eye,and it got me thinking about something that happened to me this year march i think it was,we had dropped a large leaning MAC and needed the 880 for the trunk,i tried starting it but it kicked back it did this twice,on the third attempt i gave it one almighty pull,thi time not only did it kick back but it managed to break my finger in the process hurt like a bitch for months,ive started it since no problem,so im asking as thi happened to anyone else or am i just a bit soft.

Give it heaps on the induction stroke of the Piston.

 

Pull the cord slowly and you will feel resistance getting greater and then it will "give".Your turning the crank and the piston is moving up the bore compressing the fuel air mixture.Next thing the Piston reaches "Top dead center" and normally the burning of the fuel drives the piston back down.

 

You want to pull it hard on the induction stroke,ie when there is less resistance on the cord.

 

Or you could take off your Bra,wrap it around the starter handle,get your boyfreind to hold the saw and use both hands to pull it.:001_tongue:
