So have any of you guys climbed a species that you've noticed to be particularly brittle/ snappy? Ones that you take extra care and caution when climbing and refrain from ascendimg that extra 9ft for your anchor?

Still in my first 2 years of climbing and always coming across new species, and observing how they react to certain cuts....

Salix Fragilis aka crack willow or widow’s willow as it is liable to shed its branches without warning and injure anyone who attempts to cut it down. Trunks are always hollow & they tend to barberchair too.

If I have to climb one I always look for a neighbouring tree to attach my mainline to.
