    Stihl 08s

Been sitting in the garage for years. And there's me thinking it would look nice on a shelf! Anybody restored any old stihls? Something I would love to do...
  4. Well I'm not looking to top it or do a bad job. That's why I'm asking advice on how you would tackle it. I shall load a pic up tomorrow.
  5. I don't want to make a hatrack of it. So this would mean reducing it back to two stems, basically removing the crown?
  6. Hi all. I have a large willow to pollard for the first time it's a twin stem and remains pretty bare until about 20 ft up. I've re pollarded many willows all be it smaller, and am looking for advice on first time pollard! What should I be aiming for and what should I absolutely not do!? The customer is happy with whatever I decide to do, and I'd love your advice. I appreciate a pic would help. Thanks!
  7. Ash Is pretty tough stuff in comparison. With ash you are more likely to notice it when cutting. Free fall step cuts will go with a bang if there is some weight on it.
  8. Hi all. So my Business partner and I have been up and running since last July, and keeping surprisingly busy. My question is,now we have so much wood coming in (all be it a variety) what should we do with it? We have a log splitter and space to store logs and a bandsaw for milling. Failing that we could just sell all our wood in bulk to a firewood supplier Whats the best idea? I have no problem storing wood to be milled or split for logs, but is it really worh the agro?
  9. You can pick up a pair of tree hog leather boots for about 110 I think. Not a bad boot until you want to put spikes on. Mine lasted just over a year...
  10. Thanks chaps, much appreciated.
  11. I'm in Northampton and we now have snow settling. Thanks.
  12. Nice! Waterproof as well? Haha
  13. Hi all, so it's nearly that time of year again where I head to Honeybros and load up on fresh gear. This year I'm mostly in need of kit bags! 2 rigging bags and 2 climbing bags, Whats evryones favourite bag for either rigging, climbing or both? Bags, buckets, rucksacks or roll out bags, I'm open to any style and just wondering what everyone is favouring right now. Thanks all and happy Christmas!
  14. So have any of you guys climbed a species that you've noticed to be particularly brittle/ snappy? Ones that you take extra care and caution when climbing and refrain from ascendimg that extra 9ft for your anchor? Still in my first 2 years of climbing and always coming across new species, and observing how they react to certain cuts....
  15. So for the sake of £2 would you guys go for chipper spec?
  16. Hi all. When I last bought a helmet I only remeber it either being for ground use or climbing. Now when I click on climbing helmets it gives me the option of standard spec or chipper spec, what's the difference? Thanks.
  17. Hope everything sorted it's self out now in time for xmas chap?
  18. Thanks for the input. I've always been a stihl man, but if stihl and husky can do it then I dont see any reason other brands can't begin to step up. Always open to trying new brands and giving them a shot! After all they depend on us to criticise and moan about their equipment in order to improve.
  19. I assume the first pic is the old one and second is the newer model?
  20. Im looking at the cs 360tes, if anyone has one can you tell me the difference as im seeing the same saw with different front grips. One is like normal on a 200t and the other is a curved wrap around style. I can't see any difference in the model name. I'm thinking that by looking at it I would not get on with the wrap arpund style grip. I'll post a pic.
